לַמְנַצֵּ֣חַ To the chief Musician nāṣaḥ עַל upon ʿal שֹׁ֭שַׁנִּים Shoshannim, šûšan לִבְנֵי for the sons bēn קֹ֑רַח of Korah, qōraḥ מַ֝שְׂכִּ֗יל Maschil, maśkîl שִׁ֣יר A Song šîr יְדִידֹֽת׃ of loves. yĕdîd

רָ֘חַ֤שׁ is inditing rāḥaš לִבִּ֨י׀ My heart lēb דָּ֘בָ֤ר matter: dābār ט֗וֹב a good ṭôb אֹמֵ֣ר speak ʾāmar אָ֭נִי I ʾănî מַעֲשַׂ֣י of the things which I have made maʿăśe לְמֶ֑לֶךְ touching the king: melek לְ֝שׁוֹנִ֗י my tongue lāšôn עֵ֤ט׀ the pen ʿēṭ סוֹפֵ֬ר writer. sāpar מָהִֽיר׃ of a ready māhîr

יָפְיָפִ֡יתָ Thou art fairer yāpâ מִבְּנֵ֬י than the children bēn אָדָ֗ם of men: ʾādām ה֣וּצַק is poured yāṣaq חֵ֭ן grace ḥēn בְּשְׂפְתוֹתֶ֑יךָ into thy lips: śāpâ עַל therefore ʿal כֵּ֤ן kēn בֵּֽרַכְךָ֖ hath blessed bārak אֱלֹהִ֣ים God ʾĕlōhîm לְעוֹלָֽם׃ thee for ever. ʿôlām

חֲגֽוֹר Gird ḥāgar חַרְבְּךָ֣ thy sword ḥereb עַל upon ʿal יָרֵ֣ךְ thigh, yārēk גִּבּ֑וֹר O mighty, gibbôr ה֝וֹדְךָ֗ with thy glory hôd וַהֲדָרֶֽךָ׃ and thy majesty. hādār

וַהֲדָ֬רְךָ֙׀ And in thy majesty hādār צְלַ֬ח prosperously ṣālaḥ רְכַ֗ב ride rākab עַֽל ʿal דְּבַר because dābār אֱ֭מֶת of truth ʾemet וְעַנְוָה and meekness ʿanwâ צֶ֑דֶק righteousness; ṣedeq וְתוֹרְךָ֖ shall teach yārâ נוֹרָא֣וֹת thee terrible things. yārēʾ יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ and thy right hand yāmîn

חִצֶּ֗יךָ Thine arrows ḥēṣ שְׁנ֫וּנִ֥ים sharp šānan עַ֭מִּים the people ʿam תַּחְתֶּ֣יךָ under thee. taḥat יִפְּל֑וּ fall nāpal בְּ֝לֵ֗ב in the heart lēb אוֹיְבֵ֥י enemies; ʾōyēb הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ of the king's melek

כִּסְאֲךָ֣ Thy throne, kissēʾ אֱ֭לֹהִים O God, ʾĕlōhîm עוֹלָ֣ם for ever ʿôlām וָעֶ֑ד and ever: ʿad שֵׁ֥בֶט the sceptre šēbeṭ מִ֝ישֹׁ֗ר a right mîšôr שֵׁ֣בֶט sceptre. šēbeṭ מַלְכוּתֶֽךָ׃ of thy kingdom malkût

אָהַ֣בְתָּ Thou lovest ʾāhab צֶּדֶק֮ righteousness, ṣedeq וַתִּשְׂנָ֫א and hatest śānēʾ רֶ֥שַׁע wickedness: rešaʿ עַל therefore ʿal כֵּ֤ן׀ kēn מְשָׁחֲךָ֡ hath anointed māšaḥ אֱלֹהִ֣ים God, ʾĕlōhîm אֱ֭לֹהֶיךָ thy God, ʾĕlōhîm שֶׁ֥מֶן thee with the oil šemen שָׂשׂ֗וֹן of gladness śāśôn מֵֽחֲבֵרֶֽךָ׃ above thy fellows. ḥābēr

מֹר of myrrh, mōr וַאֲהָל֣וֹת and aloes, ʾăhālîm קְ֭צִיעוֹת cassia, qĕṣîʿâ כָּל All kōl בִּגְדֹתֶ֑יךָ thy garments beged מִֽן out of min הֵ֥יכְלֵי palaces, hêkāl שֵׁ֝֗ן the ivory šēn מִנִּ֥י whereby mēn שִׂמְּחֽוּךָ׃ they have made thee glad. śāmaḥ

בְּנ֣וֹת daughters bat מְ֭לָכִים Kings' melek בְּיִקְּרוֹתֶ֑יךָ among thy honourable women: yāqār נִצְּבָ֥ה did stand nāṣab שֵׁגַ֥ל the queen šēgāl לִֽ֝ימִינְךָ֗ upon thy right hand yāmîn בְּכֶ֣תֶם in gold ketem אוֹפִֽיר׃ of Ophir. ʾôpîr

שִׁמְעִי Hearken, šāmaʿ בַ֣ת O daughter, bat וּ֭רְאִי and consider, rāʾâ וְהַטִּ֣י and incline nāṭâ אָזְנֵ֑ךְ thine ear; ʾōzen וְשִׁכְחִ֥י forget šākaḥ עַ֝מֵּ֗ךְ also thine own people, ʿam וּבֵ֥ית house; bayit אָבִֽיךְ׃ and thy father's ʾāb

וְיִתְאָ֣ו greatly desire ʾāwâ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ So shall the king melek יָפְיֵ֑ךְ thy beauty: yŏpî כִּי for kî ה֥וּא he hûʾ אֲ֝דֹנַ֗יִךְ thy Lord; ʾādôn וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוִי and worship thou him. šāḥâ לֽוֹ׃

וּבַֽת And the daughter bat צֹ֨ר׀ of Tyre ṣōr בְּ֭מִנְחָה with a gift; minḥâ פָּנַ֥יִךְ thy favour. pānîm יְחַלּ֗וּ shall intreat ḥālâ עֲשִׁ֣ירֵי the rich ʿāšîr עָֽם׃ among the people ʿam

כָּל all kōl כְּבוּדָּ֣ה glorious kĕbûddâ בַת daughter bat מֶ֣לֶךְ The king's melek פְּנִ֑ימָה within: pĕnîmâ מִֽמִּשְׁבְּצ֖וֹת of wrought mišbĕṣâ זָהָ֣ב gold. zāhāb לְבוּשָֽׁהּ׃ her clothing lĕbûš

לִרְקָמוֹת֮ in raiment of needlework: riqmâ תּוּבַ֪ל She shall be brought yābal לַ֫מֶּ֥לֶךְ unto the king melek בְּתוּל֣וֹת the virgins bĕtûlâ אַ֭חֲרֶיהָ that follow ʾaḥar רֵעוֹתֶ֑יהָ her companions rēʿâ מ֖וּבָא֣וֹת her shall be brought unto thee. bôʾ לָֽךְ׃

תּ֭וּבַלְנָה shall they be brought: yābal בִּשְׂמָחֹ֣ת With gladness śimḥâ וָגִ֑יל and rejoicing gîl תְּ֝בֹאֶ֗ינָה they shall enter bôʾ בְּהֵ֣יכַל palace. hêkāl מֶֽלֶךְ׃ into the king's melek

תַּ֣חַת Instead taḥat אֲ֭בֹתֶיךָ of thy fathers ʾāb יִהְי֣וּ shall be hāyâ בָנֶ֑יךָ thy children, bēn תְּשִׁיתֵ֥מוֹ whom thou mayest make šît לְ֝שָׂרִ֗ים princes śar בְּכָל in all kōl הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the earth. ʾereṣ

אַזְכִּ֣ירָה to be remembered zākar שִׁ֭מְךָ I will make thy name šēm בְּכָל kōl דֹּ֣ר in all dôr וָדֹ֑ר generations: dôr עַל therefore ʿal כֵּ֥ן kēn עַמִּ֥ים shall the people ʿam יְ֝הוֹדוּ֗ךָ praise yādâ לְעֹלָ֥ם thee for ever ʿôlām וָעֶֽד׃ and ever. ʿad
