לַ֭מְנַצֵּחַ To the chief Musician nāṣaḥ עַל upon ʿal שׁוּשַׁ֣ן Shushan-eduth, šûšan עֵד֑וּת ʿēdût מִכְתָּ֖ם Michtam miktām לְדָוִ֣ד of David, dāwid לְלַמֵּֽד׃ to teach; lāmad בְּהַצּוֹת֨וֹ׀ when he strove with nāṣâ אֶ֥ת and with ʾēt אֲרַ֣ם Aram-naharaim ʾărām נַהֲרַיִם֮ nāhār וְאֶת ʾēt אֲרַ֪ם Aram-zobah, ʾărām צ֫וֹבָ֥ה ṣôbāʾ וַיָּ֤שָׁב returned, šûb יוֹאָ֗ב when Joab yôʾāb וַיַּ֣ךְ and smote nākâ אֶת of ʾēt אֱד֣וֹם Edom ʾĕdōm בְּגֵיא in the valley gayʾ מֶ֑לַח of salt melaḥ שְׁנֵ֖ים twelve šĕnayim עָשָׂ֣ר ʿāśār אָֽלֶף׃ thousand. ʾelep

אֱ֭לֹהִים O God, ʾĕlōhîm זְנַחְתָּ֣נוּ thou hast cast us off, zānaḥ פְרַצְתָּ֑נוּ thou hast scattered pāraṣ אָ֝נַ֗פְתָּ us, thou hast been displeased; ʾānap תְּשׁ֣וֹבֵ֥ב O turn thyself to us again. šûb לָֽנוּ׃

הִרְעַ֣שְׁתָּה to tremble; rāʿaš אֶ֣רֶץ Thou hast made the earth ʾereṣ פְּצַמְתָּ֑הּ thou hast broken pāṣam רְפָ֖ה it: heal rāpāʾ שְׁבָרֶ֣יהָ the breaches šeber כִי thereof; for kî מָֽטָה׃ it shaketh. môṭ

הִרְאִ֣יתָ Thou hast shewed rāʾâ עַמְּךָ֣ thy people ʿam קָשָׁ֑ה hard things: qāše הִ֝שְׁקִיתָ֗נוּ thou hast made us to drink šāqâ יַ֣יִן the wine yayin תַּרְעֵלָֽה׃ of astonishment. tarʿēlâ

נָ֘תַ֤תָּה Thou hast given nātan לִּירֵאֶ֣יךָ to them that fear yārēʾ נֵּ֭ס a banner nēs לְהִתְנוֹסֵ֑ס thee, that it may be displayed nûs מִ֝פְּנֵ֗י because pānîm קֹ֣שֶׁט of the truth. qōšeṭ סֶֽלָה׃ Selah. selâ

לְ֭מַעַן That maʿan יֵחָלְצ֣וּן may be delivered; ḥālaṣ יְדִידֶ֑יךָ thy beloved yĕdîd הוֹשִׁ֖יעָה save yāšaʿ יְמִֽינְךָ֣ thy right hand, yāmîn וַעֲנֵֽנִו׃ and hear me. ʿānâ

אֱלֹהִ֤ים׀ God ʾĕlōhîm דִּבֶּ֥ר hath spoken dābar בְּקָדְשׁ֗וֹ in his holiness; qōdeš אֶ֫עְלֹ֥זָה I will rejoice, ʿālaz אֲחַלְּקָ֥ה I will divide ḥālaq שְׁכֶ֑ם Shechem, šĕkem וְעֵ֖מֶק the valley ʿēmeq סֻכּ֣וֹת of Succoth. sukkôt אֲמַדֵּֽד׃ and mete out mādad

לִ֤י גִלְעָ֨ד׀ Gilead gilʿād וְלִ֬י מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה mine, and Manasseh mĕnašše וְ֭אֶפְרַיִם mine; Ephraim ʾeprayim מָע֣וֹז also the strength māʿôz רֹאשִׁ֑י of mine head; rōš יְ֝הוּדָ֗ה Judah yĕhûdâ מְחֹֽקְקִי׃ my lawgiver; ḥāqaq

מוֹאָ֤ב׀ Moab môʾāb סִ֬יר my washpot; sîr רַחְצִ֗י raḥaṣ עַל over ʿal אֱ֭דוֹם Edom ʾĕdōm אַשְׁלִ֣יךְ will I cast out šālak נַעֲלִ֑י my shoe: naʿal עָ֝לַ֗י thou because of me. ʿal פְּלֶ֣שֶׁת Philistia, pĕlešet הִתְרוֹעָֽעִי׃ triumph rûaʿ

מִ֣י Who mî יֹ֭בִלֵנִי will bring yābal עִ֣יר city? ʿîr מָצ֑וֹר me the strong māṣôr מִ֖י who mî נָחַ֣נִי will lead nāḥâ עַד me into ʿad אֱדֽוֹם׃ Edom? ʾĕdōm

הֲלֹֽא not lōʾ אַתָּ֣ה thou, ʾattâ אֱלֹהִ֣ים O God, ʾĕlōhîm זְנַחְתָּ֑נוּ hadst cast us off? zānaḥ וְֽלֹא didst not lōʾ תֵצֵ֥א go out yāṣāʾ אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים and O God, ʾĕlōhîm בְּצִבְאוֹתֵֽינוּ׃ with our armies? ṣābāʾ

הָֽבָה Give yāhab לָּ֣נוּ עֶזְרָ֣ת us help ʿezrâ מִצָּ֑ר from trouble: ṣar וְ֝שָׁ֗וְא for vain šow תְּשׁוּעַ֥ת the help tĕšûʿâ אָדָם׃ of man. ʾādām

בֵּֽאלֹהִ֥ים Through God ʾĕlōhîm נַעֲשֶׂה we shall do ʿāśâ חָ֑יִל valiantly: ḥayil וְ֝ה֗וּא for he hûʾ יָב֥וּס shall tread down bûs צָרֵֽינוּ׃ our enemies. ṣar
