שִׁ֥יר A Song šîr מִזְמ֗וֹר Psalm mizmôr לִבְנֵ֫י for the sons bēn קֹ֥רַח of Korah, qōraḥ לַמְנַצֵּ֣חַ to the chief Musician nāṣaḥ עַל upon ʿal מָחֲלַ֣ת Mahalath maḥălat לְעַנּ֑וֹת Leannoth, ʿānâ מַ֝שְׂכִּ֗יל Maschil maśkîl לְהֵימָ֥ן of Heman hêmān הָאֶזְרָחִֽי׃ the Ezrahite. ʾezrāḥî

יְ֭הוָה O Lord yĕhōwâ אֱלֹהֵ֣י God ʾĕlōhîm יְשׁוּעָתִ֑י of my salvation, yĕšûʿâ יוֹם day yôm צָעַ֖קְתִּי I have cried ṣāʿaq בַלַּ֣יְלָה night layil נֶגְדֶּֽךָ׃ before thee: neged

תָּב֣וֹא come bôʾ לְ֭פָנֶיךָ before pānîm תְּפִלָּתִ֑י Let my prayer tĕpillâ הַטֵּֽה thee: incline nāṭâ אָ֝זְנְךָ֗ thine ear ʾōzen לְרִנָּתִֽי׃ unto my cry; rinnâ

כִּֽי For kî שָֽׂבְעָ֣ה is full śābaʿ בְרָע֣וֹת of troubles: raʿ נַפְשִׁ֑י my soul nepeš וְחַיַּ֗י and my life ḥay לִשְׁא֥וֹל unto the grave. šĕʾôl הִגִּֽיעוּ׃ draweth nigh nāgaʿ

נֶ֭חְשַׁבְתִּי I am counted ḥāšab עִם with ʿim י֣וֹרְדֵי them that go down yārad ב֑וֹר into the pit: bôr הָ֝יִ֗יתִי I am hāyâ כְּגֶ֣בֶר as a man geber אֵֽין no ʾayin אֱיָֽל׃ strength: ʾĕyāl

בַּמֵּתִ֗ים among the dead, mût חָ֫פְשִׁ֥י Free ḥopšî כְּמ֤וֹ like kĕmô חֲלָלִ֨ים׀ the slain ḥālāl שֹׁ֥כְבֵי that lie šākab קֶ֗בֶר in the grave, qeber אֲשֶׁ֤ר whom ʾăšer לֹ֣א no lōʾ זְכַרְתָּ֣ם thou rememberest zākar ע֑וֹד more: ʿôd וְ֝הֵ֗מָּה and they hēm מִיָּדְךָ֥ from thy hand. yād נִגְזָֽרוּ׃ are cut off gāzar

שַׁ֭תַּנִי Thou hast laid šît בְּב֣וֹר pit, bôr תַּחְתִּיּ֑וֹת me in the lowest taḥtî בְּ֝מַחֲשַׁכִּ֗ים in darkness, maḥšok בִּמְצֹלֽוֹת׃ in the deeps. mĕṣôlâ

עָ֭לַי upon ʿal סָמְכָ֣ה lieth hard sāmak חֲמָתֶ֑ךָ Thy wrath ḥēmâ וְכָל with all kōl מִ֝שְׁבָּרֶ֗יךָ thy waves. mišbār עִנִּ֥יתָ me, and thou hast afflicted ʿānâ סֶּֽלָה׃ Selah. selâ

הִרְחַ֥קְתָּ Thou hast put away rāḥaq מְיֻדָּעַ֗י mine acquaintance yādaʿ מִ֫מֶּ֥נִּי far from min שַׁתַּ֣נִי me; thou hast made šît תוֹעֵב֣וֹת me an abomination tôʿēba לָ֑מוֹ כָּ֝לֻ֗א unto them: shut up, kālāʾ וְלֹ֣א and I cannot lōʾ אֵצֵֽא׃ come forth. yāṣāʾ

עֵינִ֥י Mine eye ʿayin דָאֲבָ֗ה mourneth dāʾab מִנִּ֫י by reason of min עֹ֥נִי affliction: ʿŏnî קְרָאתִ֣יךָ I have called qārāʾ יְהוָ֣ה Lord, yĕhōwâ בְּכָל kōl י֑וֹם daily yôm שִׁטַּ֖חְתִּי upon thee, I have stretched out šāṭaḥ אֵלֶ֣יךָ ʾēl כַפָּֽי׃ my hands unto thee. kap

הֲלַמֵּתִ֥ים to the dead? mût תַּעֲשֶׂה Wilt thou shew ʿāśâ פֶּ֑לֶא wonders peleʾ אִם ʾim רְ֝פָאִ֗ים shall the dead rāpāʾ יָק֤וּמוּ׀ arise qûm יוֹד֬וּךָ praise yādâ סֶּֽלָה׃ thee? Selah. selâ

הַיְסֻפַּ֣ר be declared sāpar בַּקֶּ֣בֶר in the grave? qeber חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ Shall thy lovingkindness ḥēsēd אֱ֝מֽוּנָתְךָ֗ thy faithfulness ʾĕmûnâ בָּאֲבַדּֽוֹן׃ in destruction? ʾăbaddôn

הֲיִוָּדַ֣ע be known yādaʿ בַּחֹ֣שֶׁךְ in the dark? ḥōšek פִּלְאֶ֑ךָ Shall thy wonders peleʾ וְ֝צִדְקָתְךָ֗ and thy righteousness ṣĕdāqâ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ in the land ʾereṣ נְשִׁיָּֽה׃ of forgetfulness? nĕšiyyâ

וַאֲנִ֤י׀ thee have I ʾănî אֵלֶ֣יךָ But unto ʾēl יְהוָ֣ה O Lord; yĕhōwâ שִׁוַּ֑עְתִּי cried, šāwaʿ וּ֝בַבֹּ֗קֶר and in the morning bōqer תְּֽפִלָּתִ֥י shall my prayer tĕpillâ תְקַדְּמֶֽךָּ׃ prevent thee. qādam

לָמָ֣ה why mâ יְ֭הוָה Lord, yĕhōwâ תִּזְנַ֣ח castest thou off zānaḥ נַפְשִׁ֑י my soul? nepeš תַּסְתִּ֖יר hidest sātar פָּנֶ֣יךָ thou thy face pānîm מִמֶּֽנִּי׃ from me? min

עָ֘נִ֤י afflicted ʿānî אֲנִ֣י I ʾănî וְגוֵֹ֣עַ and ready to die gāwaʿ מִנֹּ֑עַר from youth nōʿar נָשָׂ֖אתִי up: I suffer nāśāʾ אֵמֶ֣יךָ thy terrors ʾêmâ אָפֽוּנָה׃ I am distracted. pûn

עָ֭לַי ʿal עָבְר֣וּ goeth over ʿābar חֲרוֹנֶ֑יךָ Thy fierce wrath ḥārôn בִּ֝עוּתֶ֗יךָ me; thy terrors biʿûtîm צִמְּתוּתֻֽנִי׃ have cut me off. ṣāmat

סַבּ֣וּנִי They came round about sābab כַ֭מַּיִם like water; mayim כָּל kōl הַיּ֑וֹם me daily yôm הִקִּ֖יפוּ they compassed nāqap עָלַ֣י me about ʿal יָֽחַד׃ together. yaḥad

הִרְחַ֣קְתָּ hast thou put far rāḥaq מִ֭מֶּנִּי from min אֹהֵ֣ב Lover ʾāhab וָרֵ֑עַ and friend rēaʿ מְֽיֻדָּעַ֥י me, mine acquaintance yādaʿ מַחְשָֽׁךְ׃ into darkness. maḥšok
