1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.ਬਲਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਝਾੜੀ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੇ ਸੌਹਰੇ ਦਾ ਨਾ ਯਿਥਰੋ ਸੀ। (ਯਿਥਰੋ ਮਿਦਯਾਨ ਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਸੀ।) ਮੂਸਾ ਯਿਥਰੋ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ ਮੂਸਾ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਦੇ ਪੱਛਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ। ਮੂਸਾ ਹੋਰੇਬ (ਸਿਨਈ) ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਪਰ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਪਰਬਤ ਸੀ।

2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.ਉਸ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ, ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਬਲਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਝਾੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਖਿਆ। ਇਹ ਇਉਂ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ। ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਝਾੜੀ ਦੇਖੀ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਭਸਮ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਲ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ।

3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਝਾੜੀ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਦੇਖਣ ਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਝਾੜੀ ਭਸਮ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਲਦੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਰਹਿ ਸੱਕਦੀ ਹੈ।

4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੂਸਾ ਝਾੜੀ ਵੱਲ ਦੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਝਾੜੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੂਸਾ, ਮੂਸਾ।” ਅਤੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ।”

5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੋਰ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਾ ਆਵੀਂ। ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜੁੱਤੀਆਂ ਲਾਹ ਲੈ। ਜਿਸ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ।

6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਇਸਹਾਕ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹਾਂ।” ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਕੱਜ ਲਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲ ਦੇਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਸੀ।

7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਹ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਦੇਖੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੱਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਿਸਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ।

8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਵਾਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਜੋ ਚੰਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ। ਭਿੰਨ-ਭਿੰਨ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਉੱਥੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਹਨ; ਕਨਾਨੀ, ਹਿੱਤੀ, ਅਮੋਰੀ, ਫ਼ਰਿੱਜ਼ੀ, ਹਿੱਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਬੂਸੀ।

9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਦੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਿਸਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਿਉਣਾ ਹਰਾਮ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਵੱਲ ਭੇਜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ। ਜਾਹ, ਮੇਰੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰ।”

11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?ਪਰ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ। ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ?”

12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਖ਼ਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ। ਇਹ ਸਬੂਤ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ; ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲਿਆਵੇਂਗਾ, ਤੂੰ ਆਕੇ ਇਸ ਪਰਬਤ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ।”

13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?ਤਾਂ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪਰ ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਾਂ, ‘ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।’ ਤਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਪੁੱਛਣਗੇ, ‘ਉਸਦਾ ਕੀ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ?’ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਦੱਸਾਂ?”

14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੀ ‘ਮੈਂ ਹਾ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ’ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੀਂ ‘ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ’ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੱਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।”

15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੈਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ; ‘ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਇਸਹਾਕ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਯਾਹਵੇਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਪੀੜੀਆਂ ਦਰ ਪੀੜੀਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣਗੇ।’ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ, ‘ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।’”

16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕਸਾਥ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸ, ‘ਯਾਹਵੇਹ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ, ਇਸਹਾਕ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ; ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਪਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

17 And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲਵਾਂ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਹੁਣ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ; ਕਨਾਨੀਆਂ, ਹਿੱਤੀਆਂ, ਅਮੋਰੀਆਂ, ਫ਼ਰਿੱਜ਼ੀਆਂ, ਹਿੱਵੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਬੂਸੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ।’

18 And they shall hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and now let us go, we beseech thee, three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.“ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਤੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣਨਗੇ। ਤੂੰ ਤੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗ ਵੀ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਵੋਂਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋਂਗੇ, ‘ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਬਰਾਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨ ਦਿਨ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ। ਓੱਥੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਯਾਹਵੇਹ, ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਣੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।’

19 And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.“ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮਿਸਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਕੋਈ ਮਹਾਨ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕਰੇਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਦੇਵੇ।

20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਵਰਤਾਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।

21 And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty.ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਮਿਸਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਬਣਾ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲੋਕ ਮਿਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਮਿਸਰੀ ਲੋਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸੁਗਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣਗੇ।

22 But every woman shall borrow of her neighbor, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.“ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇਬਰਾਨੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਸਰੀ ਗੁਆਂਢੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਮਿਸਰੀ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਸੋਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਮੰਗਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਿਸਰ ਛੱਡੋਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁਗਾਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਪਾ ਦਿਓ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਿਸਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਵੋਂਗੇ।”
