ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਰਸਾਵੇ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਸਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਲੇਲੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਸਾਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜ਼ਿਬਾਹ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ: “ਆਓ ਅਸੀਂ ਰੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰ ਦੇਈਏ। ਆਓ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਈਏ! ਫ਼ੇਰ ਲੋਕੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਣਗੇ।”

an ox אַלּ֖וּף ʾallûp ah-LOOF
is brought יוּבַ֣ל yābal ya-VAHL
to the slaughter; לִטְב֑וֹחַ ṭābaḥ ta-VAHK
not וְלֹֽא lōʾ loh
and I knew יָדַ֜עְתִּי yādaʿ ya-DA
that כִּֽי kî kee
against עָלַ֣י׀ ʿal al
they had devised חָשְׁב֣וּ ḥāšab ha-SHAHV
devices מַחֲשָׁב֗וֹת maḥăšābâ ma-huh-sha-VA
me, Let us destroy נַשְׁחִ֨יתָה šāḥat sha-HAHT
the tree עֵ֤ץ ʿēṣ ayts
with the fruit בְּלַחְמוֹ֙ leḥem leh-HEM
thereof, and let us cut him off וְנִכְרְתֶ֙נּוּ֙ kārat ka-RAHT
from the land מֵאֶ֣רֶץ ʾereṣ eh-RETS
of the living, חַיִּ֔ים ḥay hai
that his name וּשְׁמ֖וֹ šēm shame
may be no לֹֽא lōʾ loh
remembered. יִזָּכֵ֥ר zākar za-HAHR
more עֽוֹד׃ ʿôd ode
