ਤਦ ਅੱਸ਼ੂਰ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੈਦ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਆਏ ਸੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਓ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਵਸੇ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਦੀ ਰੀਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਮਝਾਵੇ।”

ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਮੰਦਰ ਬਣਵਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅਲਗ-ਅਲਗ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜਾਜਕ ਚੁਣੇ। (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ।

ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ, ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਲਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ! ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਉਂ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ‘ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਜਨਮੇਗਾ ਹੁਣ ਜਾਜਕ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਹੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ, ਯੋਸੀਯਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਪਾਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਸਾੜੇਗਾ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸੱਕੇਗੀ।’”

ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੁਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਬੱਕਰਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਵੱਛਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਥਾਪਿਆ।
