ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਕਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਮਾਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਨਿਆਂਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਆਇਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ। ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਮੋਆਬ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਗਿਆ।
