ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரத்தின் காவலையும் பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்தின் காவலையும் தங்கள் சகோதரராகிய ஆரோனுடைய குமாரரின் காவலையும் காப்பதும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் பணிவிடையைச் செய்வதும் அவர்கள் வேலையாயிருந்தது.
