முப்பத்தீராயிரம் இரதங்களையும், மாக்காவின் ராஜாவையும், அவன் ஜனத்தையும் கூலிப்படையாக அழைப்பித்தான்; இவர்கள் வந்து, மேதேபாவுக்கு முன்புறத்திலே பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்; அம்மோன் புத்திரரும் தங்கள் பட்டணங்களிலிருந்து கூடிக்கொண்டு யுத்தம்பண்ண வந்தார்கள்.

அம்மோனியர்கள் 32,000 இரதங்களை வாங்கினார்கள். அவர்கள் மாக்காவின் அரசுக்கு அதனுடைய படைகள் வந்து உதவுவதற்காகப் பணம் செலுத்தினர். மாக்காவின் அரசின் ஆட்களும் வந்து மேதேபாவுக்கு அருகில் பாசறை அமைத்தனர். அம்மோனியர்கள் தம் நகரங்களை விட்டு வெளியே வந்து போருக்கு தயாரானார்கள்.
