1 இதோ, பெலிஸ்தர் கேகிலாவின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணி, களஞ்சியங்களைக் கொள்ளையிடுகிறார்கள் என்று தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.

2 அப்பொழுது தாவீது: நான் போய், அந்தப் பெலிஸ்தரை முறிய அடிக்கலாமா என்று கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரித்ததற்கு, கர்த்தர்: நீ போ; பெலிஸ்தரை முறிய அடித்து, கேகிலாவை ரட்சிப்பாயாக என்று தாவீதுக்குச் சொன்னார். Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

3 ஆனாலும் தாவீதின் மனுஷர் அவனை நோக்கி: இதோ, நாங்கள் இங்கே யூதாவிலே இருக்கும்போதே பயப்படுகிறோம்; நாங்கள் பெலிஸ்தருடைய சேனைகளை எதிர்க்கிறதற்கு கேகிலாவுக்குப் போனால், எவ்வளவு அதிகம் என்றார்கள். And David's men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

5 அப்படியே தாவீது தன் மனுஷரைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, கேகிலாவுக்குப் போய், பெலிஸ்தரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணி, அவர்களில் அநேகம்பேரை வெட்டி, அவர்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளை ஓட்டிக்கொண்டுபோனான்; இவ்விதமாய் கேகிலாவின் குடிகளை ரட்சித்தான். So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

6 அகிமெலேக்கின் குமாரனாகிய அபியத்தார் கேகிலாவில் இருக்கிற தாவீதினிடத்தில் தப்பியோடுகிறபோது, அவனிடத்தில் ஒரு ஏபோத்து இருந்தது. And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

7 தாவீது கேகிலாவுக்கு வந்தான் என்று சவுலுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, தேவன் அவனை என் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவன் கதவுகளும் தாழ்ப்பாள்களுமுள்ள பட்டணத்திற்குள் பிரவேசித்ததினால், அடைபட்டிருக்கிறான் என்று சவுல் சொல்லி, And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.

8 தாவீதையும் அவன் மனுஷரையும் முற்றிக்கை போடும்படிக்கு, கேகிலாவுக்குப் போக, எல்லா ஜனத்தையும் யுத்தத்திற்கு அழைப்பித்தான். And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

9 தனக்குப் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்யச் சவுல் எத்தனம்பண்ணுகிறான் என்று தாவீது அறிந்துகொண்டபோது, ஆசாரியனாகிய அபியத்தாரை நோக்கி: ஏபோத்தை இங்கே கொண்டுவா என்றான். And David knew that Saul secretly practiced mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

10 அப்பொழுது தாவீது: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, சவுல் கேகிலாவுக்கு வந்து, என்னிமித்தம் பட்டணத்தை அழிக்க வகைதேடுகிறான் என்று உமது அடியானாகிய நான் நிச்சயமாய்க் கேள்விப்பட்டேன். Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

11 கேகிலா பட்டணத்தார் என்னை அவன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்களோ, உம்முடைய அடியான் கேள்விப்பட்டபடி சவுல் வருவானோ, இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, இதை உம்முடைய அடியானுக்குத் தெரிவிக்கவேண்டும் என்றான். அதற்குக் கர்த்தர்: அவன் வருவான் என்றார். Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.

12 கேகிலாபட்டணத்தார் என்னையும் என் மனுஷரையும் சவுலின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்களோ என்று தாவீது கேட்டதற்கு, கர்த்தர்: ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்கள் என்றார். Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.

13 ஆகையால் தாவீதும் ஏறக்குறைய அறுநூறுபேராகிய அவன் மனுஷரும் எழும்பி, கேகிலாவை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, போகக்கூடிய இடத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்; தாவீது கேகிலாவிலிருந்து தப்பிப்போனான் என்று சவுலுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, தான் புறப்படுகிறதை நிறுத்தி விட்டான். Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.

14 தாவீது வனாந்தரத்திலுள்ள அரணான ஸ்தலங்களிலே தங்கி, சீப் என்னும் வனாந்தரத்திலிருக்கிற ஒரு மலையிலே தரித்திருந்தான்; சவுல் அநுதினமும் அவனைத் தேடியும், தேவன் அவனை அவன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கவில்லை. And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

15 தன் பிராணனை வாங்கத் தேடும்படிக்கு, சவுல் புறப்பட்டான் என்று தாவீது அறிந்தபடியினாலே, தாவீது சீப் வனாந்தரத்திலுள்ள ஒரு காட்டிலே இருந்தான். And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.

16 அப்பொழுது சவுலின் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தான் எழுந்து, காட்டிலிருக்கிற தாவீதினிடத்தில் போய், தேவனுக்குள் அவன் கையைத் திடப்படுத்தி: And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

17 நீர் பயப்படவேண்டாம்; என் தகப்பனாகிய சவுலின் கை உம்மைக் கண்டு பிடிக்கமாட்டாது; நீர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாயிருப்பீர்; அப்பொழுது நான் உமக்கு இரண்டாவதாயிருப்பேன்; அப்படி நடக்கும் என்று என் தகப்பனாகிய சவுலும் அறிந்திருக்கிறார் என்றான். And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.

18 அவர்கள் இருவரும் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணினபின்பு, தாவீது காட்டில் இருந்துவிட்டான்; யோனத்தானோ தன் வீட்டிற்குப் போனான். And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

19 பின்பு சீப் ஊரார் கிபியாவிலிருக்கிற சவுலிடத்தில் வந்து: தாவீது எங்களிடத்தில் எஷிமோனுக்குத் தெற்கே ஆகிலா என்னும் மலைக்காட்டிலுள்ள அரணிப்பான இடங்களில் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான் அல்லவா? Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

20 இப்போதும் ராஜாவே, நீர் உம்முடைய மனவிருப்பத்தின்படி இறங்கிவாரும்; அவனை ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்க, எங்களால் ஆகும் என்றார்கள். Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand.

21 அதற்கு சவுல்: நீங்கள் என்மேல் தயை வைத்ததினாலே, கர்த்தரால் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பீர்களாக. And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me.

22 நீங்கள் போய், அவன் கால் நடமாடுகிற இடத்தைப் பார்த்து, அங்கே அவனைக் கண்டவன் யார் என்பதையும் இன்னும் நன்றாய் விசாரித்து அறியுங்கள்; அவன் மகா தந்திரவாதி என்று எனக்குத் தெரியவந்தது. Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.

23 அவன் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும் எல்லா மறைவிடங்களையும் பார்த்தறிந்து கொண்டு, நிச்சய செய்தி எனக்குக் கொண்டுவாருங்கள்; அப்பொழுது நான் உங்களோடே கூடவந்து, அவன் தேசத்தில் இருந்தால், யூதாவிலிருக்கிற சகல ஆயிரங்களுக்குள்ளும் அவனைத் தேடிப் போவேன் என்றான். See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.

24 அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் எழுந்து, சவுலுக்கு முன்னாலே சீப் ஊருக்குப் போனார்கள்; தாவீதும் அவன் மனுஷரும் எஷிமோனுக்குத் தெற்கான அந்தர வெளியாகிய மாகோன் வனாந்தரத்தில் இருந்தார்கள். And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

25 சவுலும் அவன் மனுஷரும் தாவீதைத் தேடவருகிறார்கள் என்று அவனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, அவன் கன்மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கி, மாகோன் வனாந்தரத்திலே தங்கினான்; அதை சவுல் கேள்விப்பட்டு, மாகோன் வனாந்தரத்திலே தாவீதைப் பின் தொடர்ந்தான். Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David; wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

26 சவுல் மலையின் இந்தப்பக்கத்திலும், தாவீதும் அவன் மனுஷரும் மலையின் அந்தப்பக்கத்திலும் நடந்தார்கள்; சவுலுக்குத் தப்பிப்போக, தாவீது தீவிரித்தபோது, சவுலும் அவன் மனுஷரும் தாவீதையும் அவன் மனுஷரையும் பிடிக்கத் தக்கதாய் அவர்களை வளைந்துகொண்டார்கள். And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

27 அந்தச் சமயத்தில் ஒரு ஆள் சவுலிடத்தில் வந்து: நீர் சீக்கிரமாய் வாரும்; பெலிஸ்தர் தேசத்தின்மேல் படையெடுத்து வந்திருக்கிறார்கள் என்றான். But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.

28 அதனால் சவுல் தாவீதைப் பின் தொடருகிறதை விட்டுத் திரும்பி, பெலிஸ்தரை எதிர்க்கும்படி போனான்; ஆதலால் அவ்விடத்திற்குச் சேலா அம்மாலிகோத் என்று பேரிட்டார்கள். Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.

29 தாவீது அவ்விடத்தை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு, என்கேதியிலுள்ள அரணிப்பான இடங்களில் தங்கினான். And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.

1 Itho, pelisthar kaekilaavinmael yuththampannnni, kalanjiyangalaik kollaiyidukiraarkal entu Davidkku arivikkappattathu. Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.

2 Appoluthu David: naan poy, anthap pelistharai muriya atikkalaamaa entu karththaridaththil visaariththatharku, Karththar: nee po; pelistharai muriya atiththu, kaekilaavai ratchippaayaaka entu Davidkkuch sonnaar. Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

3 Aanaalum thaaveethin manushar avanai Nnokki: itho, naangal ingae yoothaavilae irukkumpothae payappadukirom; naangal pelistharutaiya senaikalai ethirkkiratharku kaekilaavukkup ponaal, evvalavu athikam entarkal. And David's men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

4 Appoluthu David thirumpavum karththaridaththil visaariththapothu, Karththar avanukku uththaramaaka: nee elumpi, kaekilaavukkup po; naan pelistharai un kaiyil oppukkoduppaen entar. Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

5 Appatiyae David than manusharaik koottikkonndu, kaekilaavukkup poy, pelistharodu yuththampannnni, avarkalil anaekampaerai vetti, avarkal aadumaadukalai ottikkonnduponaan; ivvithamaay kaekilaavin kutikalai ratchiththaan. So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

6 Akimelaekkin kumaaranaakiya apiyaththaar kaekilaavil irukkira thaaveethinidaththil thappiyodukirapothu, avanidaththil oru aepoththu irunthathu. And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

7 David kaekilaavukku vanthaan entu savulukku arivikkappattapothu, Dhevan avanai en kaiyil oppukkoduththaar; avan kathavukalum thaalppaalkalumulla pattanaththirkul piravaesiththathinaal, ataipattirukkiraan entu savul solli, And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.

8 Thaaveethaiyum avan manusharaiyum muttikkai podumpatikku, kaekilaavukkup poka, ellaa janaththaiyum yuththaththirku alaippiththaan. And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

9 Thanakkup pollaappuch seyyach savul eththanampannnukiraan entu David arinthukonndapothu, aasaariyanaakiya apiyaththaarai Nnokki: aepoththai ingae konnduvaa entan. And David knew that Saul secretly practiced mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

10 Appoluthu David: isravaelin thaevanaakiya karththaavae, savul kaekilaavukku vanthu, ennimiththam pattanaththai alikka vakaithaedukiraan entu umathu atiyaanaakiya naan nichchayamaayk kaelvippattaேn. Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

11 Kaekilaa pattanaththaar ennai avan kaiyil oppukkoduppaarkalo, ummutaiya atiyaan kaelvippattapati savul varuvaano, isravaelin thaevanaakiya karththaavae, ithai ummutaiya atiyaanukkuth therivikkavaenndum entan. Atharkuk Karththar: avan varuvaan entar. Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.

12 Kaekilaapattanaththaar ennaiyum en manusharaiyum savulin kaiyil oppukkoduppaarkalo entu David kaettatharku, Karththar: oppukkoduppaarkal entar. Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.

13 Aakaiyaal Davidm aerakkuraiya araுnooraுpaeraakiya avan manusharum elumpi, kaekilaavai vittup purappattu, pokakkootiya idaththirkup ponaarkal; David kaekilaavilirunthu thappipponaan entu savulukku arivikkappattapothu, thaan purappadukirathai niraுththi vittan. Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.

14 David vanaantharaththilulla arannaana sthalangalilae thangi, seep ennum vanaantharaththilirukkira oru malaiyilae thariththirunthaan; savul anuthinamum avanaith thaetiyum, Dhevan avanai avan kaiyil oppukkodukkavillai. And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.

15 Than piraananai vaangath thaedumpatikku, savul purappattan entu David arinthapatiyinaalae, David seep vanaantharaththilulla oru kaattilae irunthaan. And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.

16 Appoluthu savulin kumaaranaakiya yonaththaan elunthu, kaattilirukkira thaaveethinidaththil poy, thaevanukkul avan kaiyaith thidappaduththi: And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.

17 Neer payappadavaenndaam; en thakappanaakiya savulin kai ummaik kanndu pitikkamaattathu; neer isravaelinmael raajaavaayiruppeer; appoluthu naan umakku iranndaavathaayiruppaen; appati nadakkum entu en thakappanaakiya savulum arinthirukkiraar entan. And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.

18 Avarkal iruvarum karththarukku munpaaka udanpatikkai pannnninapinpu, David kaattil irunthuvittan; yonaththaano than veettirkup ponaan. And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

19 Pinpu seep ooraar kipiyaavilirukkira savulidaththil vanthu: David engalidaththil eshimonukkuth therkae aakilaa ennum malaikkaattilulla arannippaana idangalil oliththukkonntirukkiraan allavaa? Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

20 Ippothum raajaavae, neer ummutaiya manaviruppaththinpati irangivaarum; avanai raajaavin kaiyil oppukkodukka, engalaal aakum entarkal. Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand.

21 Atharku savul: neengal enmael thayai vaiththathinaalae, karththaraal aaseervathikkappattiruppeerkalaaka. And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me.

22 Neengal poy, avan kaal nadamaadukira idaththaip paarththu, angae avanaik kanndavan yaar enpathaiyum innum nantay visaariththu ariyungal; avan makaa thanthiravaathi entu enakkuth theriyavanthathu. Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly.

23 Avan oliththukkonntirukkum ellaa maraividangalaiyum paarththarinthu konndu, nichchaya seythi enakkuk konnduvaarungal; appoluthu naan ungalotae koodavanthu, avan thaesaththil irunthaal, yoothaavilirukkira sakala aayirangalukkullum avanaith thaetip povaen entan. See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.

24 Appoluthu avarkal elunthu, savulukku munnaalae seep oorukkup ponaarkal; Davidm avan manusharum eshimonukkuth therkaana anthara veliyaakiya maakon vanaantharaththil irunthaarkal. And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

25 Savulum avan manusharum thaaveethaith thaedavarukiraarkal entu avanukku arivikkappattapothu, avan kanmalaiyilirunthu irangi, maakon vanaantharaththilae thanginaan; athai savul kaelvippattu, maakon vanaantharaththilae thaaveethaip pin thodarnthaan. Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David; wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

26 Savul malaiyin inthappakkaththilum, Davidm avan manusharum malaiyin anthappakkaththilum nadanthaarkal; savulukkuth thappippoka, David theeviriththapothu, savulum avan manusharum thaaveethaiyum avan manusharaiyum pitikkath thakkathaay avarkalai valainthukonndaarkal. And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

27 Anthach samayaththil oru aal savulidaththil vanthu: neer seekkiramaay vaarum; pelisthar thaesaththinmael pataiyeduththu vanthirukkiraarkal entan. But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.

28 Athanaal savul thaaveethaip pin thodarukirathai vittuth thirumpi, pelistharai ethirkkumpati ponaan; aathalaal avvidaththirkuch selaa ammaalikoth entu paerittarkal. Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.

29 David avvidaththai vittup purappattu, enkaethiyilulla arannippaana idangalil thanginaan. And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.
