அதற்கு அவன்: நீர் வெட்டவேண்டாம்; நீர் உம்முடைய பட்டயத்தாலும், உம்முடைய வில்லினாலும் சிறையாக்கிக் கொண்டவர்களை வெட்டுகிறீரோ? இவர்கள் புசித்துக் குடித்து, தங்கள் ஆண்டவனிடத்துக்குப் போகும்படிக்கு, அப்பமும் தண்ணீரும் அவர்களுக்கெதிரில் வையும் என்றான்.

அதற்கு அவன்: நீர் வெட்டவேண்டாம்; நீர் உம்முடைய பட்டயத்தாலும், உம்முடைய வில்லினாலும் சிறைபிடித்தவர்களை வெட்டுகிறீரோ? இவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்து, தங்கள் எஜமானிடத்திற்குப் போகும்படி, அப்பமும் தண்ணீரும் அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக வையும் என்றான்.

அதற்கு எலிசா, “இவர்களைக் கொல்ல வேண்டாம். இவர்கள் உன் வாளாலும் வில்லாலும் போரில் கைப்பற்றிய வீரர்கள் அல்ல! இவர்களுக்கு அப்பமும் தண்ணீரும் கொடு. அவர்களை உண்ணவும் குடிக்கவும்விடு. பின் எஜமானனிடம் செல்லவும் அனுமதிகொடு” என்றான்.

smite תַכֶּ֔ה nākâ na-HA
those whom הַֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר ʾăšer uh-SHER
thou hast taken captive שָׁבִ֛יתָ šābâ sha-VA
with thy sword בְּחַרְבְּךָ֥ ḥereb heh-REV
and with thy bow? וּֽבְקַשְׁתְּךָ֖ qešet keh-SHET
wouldest thou אַתָּ֣ה ʾattâ ah-TA
smite מַכֶּ֑ה nākâ na-HA
set שִׂים֩ śûm soom
bread לֶ֨חֶם leḥem leh-HEM
and water וָמַ֜יִם mayim ma-YEEM
before לִפְנֵיהֶ֗ם pānîm pa-NEEM
them, that they may eat וְיֹֽאכְלוּ֙ ʾākal ah-HAHL
and drink, וְיִשְׁתּ֔וּ šātâ sha-TA
