1 இதற்குப்பின்பு தாவீதின் குமாரனாகிய அப்சலோமுக்குத் தாமார் என்னும் பேருள்ள சவுந்தரியமுள்ள சகோதரி இருந்தாள்; அவள்மேல் தாவீதின் குமாரன் அம்னோன் மோகம்கொண்டான். And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

2 தன் சகோதரியாகிய தாமாரினிமித்தம் ஏக்கங்கொண்டு வியாதிப்பட்டான்; அவள் கன்னியாஸ்திரீயாயிருந்தாள்; அவளுக்குப் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்ய, அம்னோனுக்கு வருத்தமாய்க் கண்டது. And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do anything to her.

3 அம்னோனுக்குத் தாவீதுடைய தமையன் சிமியாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோனதாப் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு சிநேகிதன் இருந்தான்; அந்த யோனதாப் மகா தந்திரவாதி. But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man.

4 அவன் இவனைப் பார்த்து: ராஜகுமாரனாகிய நீ, நாளுக்குநாள் எதினால் இப்படி மெலிந்துபோகிறாய், எனக்குச்சொல்லமாட்டாயா என்றான். அதற்கு அம்னோன்: என் சகோதரன் அப்சலோமின் சகோதரியாகிய தாமாரின்மேல் நான் ஆசைவைத்திருக்கிறேன் என்றான். And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king's son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

5 அப்பொழுது யோனதாப் அவனைப்பார்த்து: நீ வியாதிக்காரனைப்போல உன்படுக்கையின்மேல் படுத்துக்கொள்; உன்னைப் பார்க்கிறதற்கு உன் தகப்பனார் வரும்போது, நீ, என் சகோதரியாகிய தாமார் வந்து, எனக்குப் போஜனம்கொடுத்து, அவள் கையினாலே சாப்பிடும்படிக்கு நான் பார்க்க, என் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக உட்காரும்படி தயவுசெய்யவேண்டும் என்று சொல் என்றான். And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.

6 அப்படியே அம்னோன் வியாதிக்காரன்போல் படுத்துக்கொண்டு, ராஜா தன்னைப் பார்க்கவந்தபோது, ராஜாவை நோக்கி: என் சகோதரியாகிய தாமார் வந்து நான் அவள் கையினாலே சாப்பிடும்படிக்கு, என் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக இரண்டு நல்ல பணியாரங்களைப் பண்ணும்படி உத்தரவு கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றான். So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.

7 அப்பொழுது தாவீது, வீட்டுக்குத் தாமாரிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி, நீ உன் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோன் வீட்டுக்குப்போய், அவனுக்கு சமையல் பண்ணிக்கொடு என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான். Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him meat.

8 தாமார் தன் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோன் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிற வீட்டுக்குப் போய், மாவெடுத்துப் பிசைந்து, அவன் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தட்டி பணியாரங்களைச் சுட்டு, So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was laid down. And she took flour, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.

9 சட்டியை எடுத்து, அவனுக்கு முன்பாக அவைகளை வைத்தாள்; ஆனாலும் அவன் சாப்பிடமாட்டேன் என்றான்; பின்பு அம்னோன் எல்லாரும் என்னைவிட்டு வெளியே போகட்டும் என்றான்; எல்லாரும் அவனை விட்டு வெளியே போனார்கள். And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.

10 அப்பொழுது அம்னோன் தாமாரைப்பார்த்து: நான் உன் கையினாலே சாப்பிடும்படிக்கு, அந்தப் பலகாரத்தை அறைவீட்டிலே கொண்டுவா என்றான்; அப்படியே தாமார் தான் செய்த பணியாரங்களை அறைவீட்டில் இருக்கிற தன் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோனிடத்தில் கொண்டுபோனாள். And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the meat into the chamber, that I may eat of thine hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.

11 அவன் சாப்பிடும்படிக்கு அவள் அவைகளைக் கிட்ட கொண்டுவருகையில், அவன் அவளைப் பிடித்து, அவளைப்பார்த்து: என் சகோதரியே, நீ வந்து என்னோடே சயனி என்றான். And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.

12 அதற்கு அவள்: வேண்டாம், என் சகோதரனே, என்னை அவமானப்படுத்தாதே, இஸ்ரவேலிலே இப்படிச் செய்யத்தகாது; இப்படிப்பட்ட மதிகேடான காரியத்தைச் செய்யவேண்டாம். And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.

13 நான் என் வெட்கத்தோடே எங்கே போவேன்? நீயும் இஸ்ரவேலிலே மதிகெட்டவர்களில் ஒருவனைப்போல ஆவாய்; இப்போதும் நீ ராஜாவோடே பேசு, அவர் என்னை உனக்குத் தராமல் மறுக்கமாட்டார் என்றாள். And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.

14 அவன் அவள் சொல்லைக் கேட்கமாட்டேன் என்று அவளைப் பலவந்தமாய்ப் பிடித்து, அவளோடே சயனித்து, அவளைக் கற்பழித்தான். Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.

15 பிற்பாடு அம்னோன் அவளை மிகவும் வெறுத்தான்; அவன் அவளை விரும்பின விருப்பத்தைப் பார்க்கிலும், அவளை வெறுத்த வெறுப்பு அதிகமாயிருந்தது. ஆகையால்: நீ எழுந்து போய்விடு என்று அம்னோன் அவளோடே சொன்னான். Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.

16 அப்பொழுது அவள்: நீ எனக்கு முந்தி செய்த அநியாயத்தைப்பார்க்கிலும், இப்பொழுது என்னைத் துரத்திவிடுகிற அந்த அநியாயம் கொடுமையாயிருக்கிறது என்றாள்; ஆனாலும் அவன் அவள் சொல்லைக் கேட்க மனதில்லாமல், And she said unto him, There is no cause: this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her.

17 தன்னிடத்தில் சேவிக்கிற தன்வேலைக்காரனைக் கூப்பிட்டு: நீ இவளை, என்னை விட்டு வெளியே தள்ளி, கதவைப்பூட்டு என்றான். Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.

18 அப்படியே அவனிடத்தில் சேவிக்கிறவன் அவளை வெளியே தள்ளி, கதவைப் பூட்டினான்; அவள் பலவருணமான வஸ்திரத்தை உடுத்திக்கொண்டிருந்தாள்; ராஜகுமாரத்திகளாகிய கன்னிகைகள் இப்படிக்கொத்த, சால்வைகளைத் தரித்துக்கொள்வார்கள். And she had a garment of divers colors upon her: for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.

19 அப்பொழுது தாமார்: தன் தலையின்மேல் சாம்பலை வாரிப்போட்டுக்கொண்டு, தான் தரித்திருந்த பலவருணமான வஸ்திரத்தைக் கிழித்து, தன் கையைத் தன் தலையின்மேல் வைத்து, சத்தமிட்டு அழுதுகொண்டுபோனாள். And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colors that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying.

20 அப்பொழுது அவள் சகோதரனாகிய அப்சலோம் அவளைப் பார்த்து: உன் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோன் உன்னோடிருந்தானோ? இப்போதும் என் சகோதரியே, நீ மவுனமாயிரு; அவன் உன்னுடைய சகோதரன்; இந்தக் காரியத்தை உன்மனதிலே வைக்காதே என்றான்; அப்படியே தாமார் தன் சகோதரனாகிய அப்சலோமின் வீட்டில் தனித்துக் கிலேசப்பட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தாள். And Absalom her brother said unto her, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.

21 தாவீதுராஜா இந்தச் செய்திகளையெல்லாம் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, வெகுகோபமாயெரிந்தான். But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.

22 அப்சலோம் அம்னோனோடே நன்மையாகிலும் தீமையாகிலும் பேசவில்லை; தன் சகோதரியாகிய தாமாரை அம்னோன் கற்பழித்த காரியத்தினிமித்தம் அப்சலோம் அவனைப் பகைத்தான். And Absalom spake unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

23 இரண்டு வருஷம் சென்றபின்பு, அப்சலோம் எப்பிராயீமுக்குச் சமீபமான பாலாத்சோரிலே ஆட்களை வைத்து, ஆடுகளை மயிர்கத்தரிக்கிற வேலையில் இருந்தான்; அங்கே ராஜகுமாரர் எல்லாரையும் விருந்துக்கு அழைத்தான். And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baalhazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons.

24 அவன் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய், ஆட்களை வைத்து ஆடுகளை மயிர்கத்தரிக்கிறேன்; ராஜாவும் அவருடைய ஊழியக்காரரும் உமது அடியானோடே வரும்படிவேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன் என்றான். And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, I beseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant.

25 ராஜா அப்சலோமைப் பார்த்து: அப்படி வேண்டாம், என் மகனே; நாங்கள் எல்லாரும் வருவோமாகில் உனக்கு வெகுசெலவுண்டாகும் என்றான்; அவனை வருந்திக்கேட்டாலும், அவன் போக மனதில்லாமல், அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தான். And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.

26 அப்பொழுது அப்சலோம்: அது கூடாதிருந்தால், என் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோனாவது எங்களோடே வரும்படி அவனுக்கு உத்தரவு செய்யும் என்றான். அதற்கு ராஜா: அவன் உன்னோடே வரவேண்டியது என்ன என்றான். Then said Absalom, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee?

27 அப்சலோம் பின்னையும் அவனை வருந்திக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டபடியினால், அவன் அம்னோனையும், ராஜாவின் குமாரர் அனைவரையும் அவனோடே போகவிட்டான். But Absalom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.

28 அப்சலோம் தன் வேலைக்காரரை நோக்கி: அம்னோன் திராட்சரசம் குடித்துக் களித்திருக்கும் சமயத்தை நன்றாய்ப்பார்த்திருங்கள்; அப்பொழுது நான்: அம்னோனை அடியுங்கள் என்று சொல்லுவேன், உடனே நீங்கள் பயப்படாமல் அவனைக் கொன்றுபோடுங்கள்; நான் அல்லவோ அதை உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன்; திடன்கொண்டு தைரியமாயிருங்கள் என்று சொல்லியிருந்தான். Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.

29 அப்சலோம் கற்பித்தபடியே அப்சலோமின் வேலைக்காரர் அம்னோனுக்குச் செய்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜகுமாரர் எல்லாரும் எழுந்திருந்து, அவரவர் தம்தம் கோவேறு கழுதையின்மேல் ஏறி ஓடிப்போனார்கள். And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man gat him up upon his mule, and fled.

30 அவர்கள் வழியில் இருக்கிறபோதே, அப்சலோம் ராஜகுமாரரையெல்லாம் அடித்துக் கொன்றுபோட்டான், அவர்களில் ஒருவரும் மீந்திருக்க விடவில்லை என்கிறதாய், தாவீதுக்குச் செய்தி வந்தது. And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.

31 அப்பொழுது ராஜா எழுந்திருந்து, தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, தரையிலே விழுந்துகிடந்தான்; அவன் ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரும் தங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு நின்றார்கள். Then the king arose, and tare his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes rent.

32 அப்பொழுது தாவீதின் தமையனாகிய சிமியாவின் குமாரன் யோனதாப் வந்து: ராஜகுமாரரான வாலிபரையெல்லாம் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள் என்று என் ஆண்டவன் நினைக்கவேண்டாம்; அம்னோன்மாத்திரம் செத்துப்போனான்; அவன் தன் சகோதரியாகிய தாமாரைக் கற்பழித்த நாள்முதற்கொண்டு, அது அப்சலோமின் நெஞ்சில் இருந்தது. And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

33 இப்போதும் ராஜகுமாரர்கள் எல்லாரும் செத்தார்கள் என்கிற பேச்சை ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் தம்முடைய மனதிலே வைக்கவேண்டாம்; அம்னோன் ஒருவனே செத்தான் என்றான்; அப்சலோம் ஓடிப்போனான். Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead: for Amnon only is dead.

34 ஜாமக்காரச் சேவகன் தன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்துப் பார்த்தபோது, இதோ, அநேகம் ஜனங்கள் தனக்குப் பின்னாலே மலை ஓரமாய் வருகிறதைக் கண்டான். But Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill side behind him.

35 அப்பொழுது யோனதாப் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, ராஜகுமாரர் வருகிறார்கள்; உமது அடியேன் சொன்னபடியே ஆயிற்று என்றான். And Jonadab said unto the king, Behold, the king's sons come: as thy servant said, so it is.

36 அவன் பேசி முடிந்தபோது, ராஜகுமாரர் வந்து, சத்தமிட்டு அழுதார்கள்; ராஜாவும் அவனுடைய எல்லா ஊழியக்காரரும் மிகவும் புலம்பி அழுதார்கள். And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.

37 அப்சலோமோ அம்மியூதின் குமாரனாகிய தல்மாய் என்னும் கேசூரின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு ஓடிப்போனான். தாவீது தினந்தோறும் தன் குமாரனுக்காகத் துக்கித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான். But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.

38 அப்சலோம் கேசூருக்கு ஓடிப்போய் அங்கே மூன்று வருஷம் இருந்தான். So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.

39 தாவீதுராஜா அம்னோன் செத்தபடியினால், அவனுக்காகத் துக்கித்து ஆறுதலடைந்தபோது அப்சலோமைப் பின்தொடரும் நினைவை விட்டுவிட்டான். And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.

1 Itharkuppinpu thaaveethin kumaaranaakiya apsalomukkuth thaamaar ennum paerulla savunthariyamulla sakothari irunthaal; avalmael thaaveethin kumaaran amnon mokamkonndaan. And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

2 Than sakothariyaakiya thaamaarinimiththam aekkangaொnndu viyaathippattan; aval kanniyaasthireeyaayirunthaal; avalukkup pollaappuch seyya, amnonukku varuththamaayk kanndathu. And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do anything to her.

3 Amnonukkuth Davidtaiya thamaiyan simiyaavin kumaaranaakiya yonathaap ennum paerulla oru sinaekithan irunthaan; antha yonathaap makaa thanthiravaathi. But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man.

4 Avan ivanaip paarththu: raajakumaaranaakiya nee, naalukkunaal ethinaal ippati melinthupokiraay, enakkuchchaொllamaattayaa entan. Atharku amnon: en sakotharan apsalomin sakothariyaakiya thaamaarinmael naan aasaivaiththirukkiraேn entan. And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king's son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

5 Appoluthu yonathaap avanaippaarththu: nee viyaathikkaaranaippola unpadukkaiyinmael paduththukkol; unnaip paarkkiratharku un thakappanaar varumpothu, nee, en sakothariyaakiya thaamaar vanthu, enakkup pojanamkoduththu, aval kaiyinaalae saappidumpatikku naan paarkka, en kannkalukku munpaaka utkaarumpati thayavuseyyavaenndum entu sol entan. And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.

6 Appatiyae amnon viyaathikkaaranpol paduththukkonndu, raajaa thannaip paarkkavanthapothu, raajaavai Nnokki: en sakothariyaakiya thaamaar vanthu naan aval kaiyinaalae saappidumpatikku, en kannkalukku munpaaka iranndu nalla panniyaarangalaip pannnumpati uththaravu kodukkavaenndum entan. So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.

7 Appoluthu David, veettukkuth thaamaaridaththil aal anuppi, nee un sakotharanaakiya amnon veettukkuppoy, avanukku samaiyal pannnnikkodu entu sollachchaொnnaan. Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him meat.

8 Thaamaar than sakotharanaakiya amnon paduththukkonntirukkira veettukkup poy, maaveduththup pisainthu, avan kannkalukku munpaakath thatti panniyaarangalaich suttu, So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was laid down. And she took flour, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.

9 Sattiyai eduththu, avanukku munpaaka avaikalai vaiththaal; aanaalum avan saappidamaattaேn entan; pinpu amnon ellaarum ennaivittu veliyae pokattum entan; ellaarum avanai vittu veliyae ponaarkal. And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.

10 Appoluthu amnon thaamaaraippaarththu: naan un kaiyinaalae saappidumpatikku, anthap palakaaraththai araiveettilae konnduvaa entan; appatiyae thaamaar thaan seytha panniyaarangalai araiveettil irukkira than sakotharanaakiya amnonidaththil konnduponaal. And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the meat into the chamber, that I may eat of thine hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.

11 Avan saappidumpatikku aval avaikalaik kitta konnduvarukaiyil, avan avalaip pitiththu, avalaippaarththu: en sakothariyae, nee vanthu ennotae sayani entan. And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.

12 Atharku aval: vaenndaam, en sakotharanae, ennai avamaanappaduththaathae, isravaelilae ippatich seyyaththakaathu; ippatippatta mathikaedaana kaariyaththaich seyyavaenndaam. And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.

13 Naan en vetkaththotae engae povaen? Neeyum isravaelilae mathikettavarkalil oruvanaippola aavaay; ippothum nee raajaavotae paesu, avar ennai unakkuth tharaamal maraுkkamaattar ental. And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.

14 Avan aval sollaik kaetkamaattaேn entu avalaip palavanthamaayp pitiththu, avalotae sayaniththu, avalaik karpaliththaan. Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.

15 Pirpaadu amnon avalai mikavum veraுththaan; avan avalai virumpina viruppaththaip paarkkilum, avalai veraுththa veraுppu athikamaayirunthathu. Aakaiyaal: nee elunthu poyvidu entu amnon avalotae sonnaan. Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.

16 Appoluthu aval: nee enakku munthi seytha aniyaayaththaippaarkkilum, ippoluthu ennaith thuraththividukira antha aniyaayam kodumaiyaayirukkirathu ental; aanaalum avan aval sollaik kaetka manathillaamal, And she said unto him, There is no cause: this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her.

17 Thannidaththil sevikkira thanvaelaikkaaranaik kooppittu: nee ivalai, ennai vittu veliyae thalli, kathavaippoottu entan. Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.

18 Appatiyae avanidaththil sevikkiravan avalai veliyae thalli, kathavaip poottinaan; aval palavarunamaana vasthiraththai uduththikkonntirunthaal; raajakumaaraththikalaakiya kannikaikal ippatikkoththa, saalvaikalaith thariththukkolvaarkal. And she had a garment of divers colors upon her: for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.

19 Appoluthu thaamaar: than thalaiyinmael saampalai vaarippottukkonndu, thaan thariththiruntha palavarunamaana vasthiraththaik kiliththu, than kaiyaith than thalaiyinmael vaiththu, saththamittu aluthukonnduponaal. And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colors that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying.

20 Appoluthu aval sakotharanaakiya apsalom avalaip paarththu: un sakotharanaakiya amnon unnotirunthaano? Ippothum en sakothariyae, nee mavunamaayiru; avan unnutaiya sakotharan; inthak kaariyaththai unmanathilae vaikkaathae entan; appatiyae thaamaar than sakotharanaakiya apsalomin veettil thaniththuk kilaesappattukkonntirunthaal. And Absalom her brother said unto her, Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but hold now thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.

21 Davidraajaa inthach seythikalaiyellaam kaelvippattapothu, vekukopamaayerinthaan. But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.

22 Apsalom amnonotae nanmaiyaakilum theemaiyaakilum paesavillai; than sakothariyaakiya thaamaarai amnon karpaliththa kaariyaththinimiththam apsalom avanaip pakaiththaan. And Absalom spake unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

23 Iranndu varusham sentapinpu, apsalom eppiraayeemukkuch sameepamaana paalaathsorilae aatkalai vaiththu, aadukalai mayirkaththarikkira vaelaiyil irunthaan; angae raajakumaarar ellaaraiyum virunthukku alaiththaan. And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baalhazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons.

24 Avan raajaavinidaththil poy, aatkalai vaiththu aadukalai mayirkaththarikkiraேn; raajaavum avarutaiya ooliyakkaararum umathu atiyaanotae varumpativaenntikkollukiraேn entan. And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, I beseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant.

25 Raajaa apsalomaip paarththu: appati vaenndaam, en makanae; naangal ellaarum varuvomaakil unakku vekuselavunndaakum entan; avanai varunthikkaettalum, avan poka manathillaamal, avanai aaseervathiththaan. And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.

26 Appoluthu apsalom: athu koodaathirunthaal, en sakotharanaakiya amnonaavathu engalotae varumpati avanukku uththaravu seyyum entan. Atharku raajaa: avan unnotae varavaenntiyathu enna entan. Then said Absalom, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee?

27 Apsalom pinnaiyum avanai varunthik kaettukkonndapatiyinaal, avan amnonaiyum, raajaavin kumaarar anaivaraiyum avanotae pokavittan. But Absalom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.

28 Apsalom than vaelaikkaararai Nnokki: amnon thiraatcharasam kutiththuk kaliththirukkum samayaththai nantayppaarththirungal; appoluthu naan: amnonai atiyungal entu solluvaen, udanae neengal payappadaamal avanaik kontupodungal; naan allavo athai ungalukkuk kattalaiyidukiraேn; thidankonndu thairiyamaayirungal entu solliyirunthaan. Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.

29 Apsalom karpiththapatiyae apsalomin vaelaikkaarar amnonukkuch seythaarkal; appoluthu raajakumaarar ellaarum elunthirunthu, avaravar thamtham kovaeraு kaluthaiyinmael aeri otipponaarkal. And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man gat him up upon his mule, and fled.

30 Avarkal valiyil irukkirapothae, apsalom raajakumaararaiyellaam atiththuk kontupottan, avarkalil oruvarum meenthirukka vidavillai enkirathaay, Davidkkuch seythi vanthathu. And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.

31 Appoluthu raajaa elunthirunthu, than vasthirangalaik kiliththukkonndu, tharaiyilae vilunthukidanthaan; avan ooliyakkaarar ellaarum thangal vasthirangalaik kiliththukkonndu nintarkal. Then the king arose, and tare his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes rent.

32 Appoluthu thaaveethin thamaiyanaakiya simiyaavin kumaaran yonathaap vanthu: raajakumaararaana vaaliparaiyellaam kontupottarkal entu en aanndavan ninaikkavaenndaam; amnonmaaththiram seththupponaan; avan than sakothariyaakiya thaamaaraik karpaliththa naalmutharkonndu, athu apsalomin nenjil irunthathu. And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

33 Ippothum raajakumaararkal ellaarum seththaarkal enkira paechchaை raajaavaakiya en aanndavan thammutaiya manathilae vaikkavaenndaam; amnon oruvanae seththaan entan; apsalom otipponaan. Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead: for Amnon only is dead.

34 Jaamakkaarach sevakan than kannkalai aeraெduththup paarththapothu, itho, anaekam janangal thanakkup pinnaalae malai oramaay varukirathaik kanndaan. But Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill side behind him.

35 Appoluthu yonathaap raajaavaip paarththu: itho, raajakumaarar varukiraarkal; umathu atiyaen sonnapatiyae aayittaு entan. And Jonadab said unto the king, Behold, the king's sons come: as thy servant said, so it is.

36 Avan paesi mutinthapothu, raajakumaarar vanthu, saththamittu aluthaarkal; raajaavum avanutaiya ellaa ooliyakkaararum mikavum pulampi aluthaarkal. And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.

37 Apsalomo ammiyoothin kumaaranaakiya thalmaay ennum kaesoorin raajaavinidaththirku otipponaan. David thinanthoraுm than kumaaranukkaakath thukkiththukkonntirunthaan. But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.

38 Apsalom kaesoorukku otippoy angae moontu varusham irunthaan. So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.

39 Davidraajaa amnon seththapatiyinaal, avanukkaakath thukkiththu aaraுthalatainthapothu apsalomaip pinthodarum ninaivai vittuvittan. And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.
