וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ And thou shalt make ʿāśâ מִזְבֵּ֖חַ an altar mizbēaḥ מִקְטַ֣ר to burn miqṭār קְטֹ֑רֶת incense qĕṭōret עֲצֵ֥י wood ʿēṣ שִׁטִּ֖ים upon: shittim šiṭṭâ תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֥ה shalt thou make it. ʿāśâ אֹתֽוֹ׃ ʾēt

אַמָּ֨ה A cubit ʾammâ אָרְכּ֜וֹ the length ʾōrek וְאַמָּ֤ה thereof, and a cubit ʾammâ רָחְבּוֹ֙ the breadth rōḥab רָב֣וּעַ thereof; foursquare rābaʿ יִֽהְיֶ֔ה shall it be: hāyâ וְאַמָּתַ֖יִם and two cubits ʾammâ קֹֽמָת֑וֹ the height qômâ מִמֶּ֖נּוּ thereof of the same. min קַרְנֹתָֽיו׃ thereof: the horns qeren

וְצִפִּיתָ֙ And thou shalt overlay ṣāpâ אֹת֜וֹ ʾēt זָהָ֣ב gold, zāhāb טָה֗וֹר it with pure ṭāhôr אֶת ʾēt גַּגּ֧וֹ the top gāg וְאֶת ʾēt קִֽירֹתָ֛יו thereof, and the sides qîr סָבִ֖יב thereof round about, sābîb וְאֶת ʾēt קַרְנֹתָ֑יו and the horns qeren וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ thereof; and thou shalt make ʿāśâ לּ֛וֹ זֵ֥ר unto it a crown zēr זָהָ֖ב of gold zāhāb סָבִֽיב׃ round about. sābîb

וּשְׁתֵּי֩ And two šĕnayim טַבְּעֹ֨ת rings ṭabbaʿat זָהָ֜ב golden zāhāb תַּֽעֲשֶׂה shalt thou make ʿāśâ לּ֣וֹ׀ מִתַּ֣חַת to it under taḥat לְזֵר֗וֹ the crown zēr עַ֚ל of it, by ʿal שְׁתֵּ֣י the two šĕnayim צַלְעֹתָ֔יו corners ṣēlāʿ תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֖ה of it shalt thou make ʿāśâ עַל thereof, upon ʿal שְׁנֵ֣י the two šĕnayim צִדָּ֑יו sides ṣad וְהָיָה֙ and they shall be hāyâ לְבָתִּ֣ים for places bayit לְבַדִּ֔ים for the staves bad לָשֵׂ֥את to bear nāśāʾ אֹת֖וֹ ʾēt בָּהֵֽמָּה׃ it withal. hēm

וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ And thou shalt make ʿāśâ אֶת ʾēt הַבַּדִּ֖ים the staves bad עֲצֵ֣י wood, ʿēṣ שִׁטִּ֑ים shittim šiṭṭâ וְצִפִּיתָ֥ and overlay ṣāpâ אֹתָ֖ם ʾēt זָהָֽב׃ them with gold. zāhāb

וְנָֽתַתָּ֤ה And thou shalt put nātan אֹתוֹ֙ ʾēt לִפְנֵ֣י it before pānîm הַפָּרֹ֔כֶת the vail pōreket אֲשֶׁ֖ר that ʾăšer עַל by ʿal אֲרֹ֣ן the ark ʾārôn הָֽעֵדֻ֑ת of the testimony, ʿēdût לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm הַכַּפֹּ֗רֶת the mercy seat kappōret אֲשֶׁר֙ that ʾăšer עַל over ʿal הָ֣עֵדֻ֔ת the testimony, ʿēdût אֲשֶׁ֛ר where ʾăšer אִוָּעֵ֥ד I will meet with thee. yāʿad לְךָ֖ שָֽׁמָּה׃ šām

וְהִקְטִ֥יר shall burn qāṭar עָלָ֛יו thereon ʿal אַֽהֲרֹ֖ן And Aaron ʾahărôn קְטֹ֣רֶת incense qĕṭōret סַמִּ֑ים sweet sam בַּבֹּ֣קֶר every morning: bōqer בַּבֹּ֗קֶר bōqer בְּהֵֽיטִיב֛וֹ when he dresseth yāṭab אֶת ʾēt הַנֵּרֹ֖ת the lamps, nîr יַקְטִירֶֽנָּה׃ he shall burn incense upon it. qāṭar

וּבְהַֽעֲלֹ֨ת lighteth ʿālâ אַֽהֲרֹ֧ן And when Aaron ʾahărôn אֶת ʾēt הַנֵּרֹ֛ת the lamps nîr בֵּ֥ין at bên הָֽעַרְבַּ֖יִם even, ʿereb יַקְטִירֶ֑נָּה he shall burn incense qāṭar קְטֹ֧רֶת incense qĕṭōret תָּמִ֛יד upon it, a perpetual tāmîd לִפְנֵ֥י before pānîm יְהוָ֖ה the Lord yĕhōwâ לְדֹרֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃ throughout your generations. dôr

לֹֽא no lōʾ תַעֲל֥וּ Ye shall offer ʿālâ עָלָ֛יו thereon, ʿal קְטֹ֥רֶת incense qĕṭōret זָרָ֖ה strange zûr וְעֹלָ֣ה nor burnt sacrifice, ʿōlâ וּמִנְחָ֑ה nor meat offering; minḥâ וְנֵ֕סֶךְ drink offering nesek לֹ֥א neither lōʾ תִסְּכ֖וּ shall ye pour nāsak עָלָֽיו׃ thereon. ʿal

וְכִפֶּ֤ר shall make an atonement kāpar אַֽהֲרֹן֙ And Aaron ʾahărôn עַל upon ʿal קַרְנֹתָ֔יו the horns qeren אַחַ֖ת of it once ʾeḥād בַּשָּׁנָ֑ה in a year šāne מִדַּ֞ם with the blood dām חַטַּ֣את of the sin offering ḥaṭṭāʾâ הַכִּפֻּרִ֗ים of atonements: kippur אַחַ֤ת once ʾeḥād בַּשָּׁנָה֙ in the year šāne יְכַפֵּ֤ר shall he make atonement kāpar עָלָיו֙ upon ʿal לְדֹרֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם it throughout your generations: dôr קֹֽדֶשׁ most qōdeš קָֽדָשִׁ֥ים holy qōdeš ה֖וּא it hûʾ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ unto the Lord. yĕhōwâ

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר spake dābar יְהוָ֖ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses, mōše לֵּאמֹֽר׃ saying, ʾāmar

כִּ֣י When kî תִשָּׂ֞א thou takest nāśāʾ אֶת ʾēt רֹ֥אשׁ the sum rōš בְּנֵֽי of the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ of Israel yiśrāʾēl לִפְקֻֽדֵיהֶם֒ after their number, pāqad וְנָ֨תְנ֜וּ then shall they give nātan אִ֣ישׁ every man ʾîš כֹּ֧פֶר a ransom kōper נַפְשׁ֛וֹ for his soul nepeš לַֽיהוָ֖ה unto the Lord, yĕhōwâ בִּפְקֹ֣ד when thou numberest pāqad אֹתָ֑ם ʾēt וְלֹֽא no lōʾ יִהְיֶ֥ה them; that there be hāyâ בָהֶ֛ם נֶ֖גֶף plague negep בִּפְקֹ֥ד among them, when numberest them. pāqad אֹתָֽם׃ ʾēt

זֶ֣ה׀ This ze יִתְּנ֗וּ they shall give, nātan כָּל every one kōl הָֽעֹבֵר֙ that passeth ʿābar עַל among ʿal הַפְּקֻדִ֔ים them that are numbered, pāqad מַֽחֲצִ֥ית half maḥăṣît הַשֶּׁ֖קֶל a shekel šeqel בְּשֶׁ֣קֶל after the shekel šeqel הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ of the sanctuary: qōdeš עֶשְׂרִ֤ים twenty ʿeśrîm גֵּרָה֙ gerahs:) gērâ הַשֶּׁ֔קֶל (a shekel šeqel מַֽחֲצִ֣ית an half maḥăṣît הַשֶּׁ֔קֶל shekel šeqel תְּרוּמָ֖ה the offering tĕrûmâ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ of the Lord. yĕhōwâ

כֹּ֗ל Every one kōl הָֽעֹבֵר֙ that passeth ʿābar עַל among ʿal הַפְּקֻדִ֔ים them that are numbered, pāqad מִבֶּ֛ן old bēn עֶשְׂרִ֥ים from twenty ʿeśrîm שָׁנָ֖ה years šāne וָמָ֑עְלָה and above, maʿal יִתֵּ֖ן shall give nātan תְּרוּמַ֥ת an offering tĕrûmâ יְהוָֽה׃ unto the Lord. yĕhōwâ

הֶֽעָשִׁ֣יר The rich ʿāšîr לֹֽא shall not lōʾ יַרְבֶּ֗ה give more, rābâ וְהַדַּל֙ and the poor dal לֹ֣א shall not lōʾ יַמְעִ֔יט give less māʿaṭ מִֽמַּחֲצִ֖ית than half maḥăṣît הַשָּׁ֑קֶל a shekel, šeqel לָתֵת֙ when give nātan אֶת ʾēt תְּרוּמַ֣ת an offering tĕrûmâ יְהוָ֔ה unto the Lord, yĕhōwâ לְכַפֵּ֖ר to make an atonement kāpar עַל for ʿal נַפְשֹֽׁתֵיכֶֽם׃ your souls. nepeš

וְלָֽקַחְתָּ֞ And thou shalt take lāqaḥ אֶת ʾēt כֶּ֣סֶף money kesep הַכִּפֻּרִ֗ים the atonement kippur מֵאֵת֙ of ʾēt בְּנֵ֣י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl וְנָֽתַתָּ֣ and shalt appoint nātan אֹת֔וֹ ʾēt עַל it for ʿal עֲבֹדַ֖ת the service ʿăbōdâ אֹ֣הֶל of the tabernacle ʾōhel מוֹעֵ֑ד of the congregation; môʿēd וְהָיָה֩ that it may be hāyâ לִבְנֵ֨י unto the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל of Israel yiśrāʾēl לְזִכָּרוֹן֙ a memorial zikrôn לִפְנֵ֣י before pānîm יְהוָ֔ה the Lord, yĕhōwâ לְכַפֵּ֖ר to make an atonement kāpar עַל for ʿal נַפְשֹֽׁתֵיכֶֽם׃ your souls. nepeš

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר spake dābar יְהוָ֖ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses, mōše לֵּאמֹֽר׃ saying, ʾāmar

וְעָשִׂ֜יתָ Thou shalt also make ʿāśâ כִּיּ֥וֹר a laver kiyyôr נְחֹ֛שֶׁת brass, nĕḥōšet וְכַנּ֥וֹ and his foot kēn נְחֹ֖שֶׁת brass, nĕḥōšet לְרָחְצָ֑ה to wash rāḥaṣ וְנָֽתַתָּ֣ and thou shalt put nātan אֹת֗וֹ ʾēt בֵּֽין it between bên אֹ֤הֶל the tabernacle ʾōhel מוֹעֵד֙ of the congregation môʿēd וּבֵ֣ין bên הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ and the altar, mizbēaḥ וְנָֽתַתָּ֥ and thou shalt put nātan שָׁ֖מָּה therein. šām מָֽיִם׃ water mayim

וְרָֽחֲצ֛וּ shall wash rāḥaṣ אַֽהֲרֹ֥ן For Aaron ʾahărôn וּבָנָ֖יו and his sons bēn מִמֶּ֑נּוּ thereat: min אֶת ʾēt יְדֵיהֶ֖ם their hands yād וְאֶת ʾēt רַגְלֵיהֶֽם׃ and their feet regel

בְּבֹאָ֞ם When they go bôʾ אֶל into ʾēl אֹ֧הֶל the tabernacle ʾōhel מוֹעֵ֛ד of the congregation, môʿēd יִרְחֲצוּ they shall wash rāḥaṣ מַ֖יִם with water, mayim וְלֹ֣א not; lōʾ יָמֻ֑תוּ that they die mût א֣וֹ or ʾô בְגִשְׁתָּ֤ם when they come near nāgaš אֶל to ʾēl הַמִּזְבֵּ֙חַ֙ the altar mizbēaḥ לְשָׁרֵ֔ת to minister, šārat לְהַקְטִ֥יר to burn offering qāṭar אִשֶּׁ֖ה made by fire ʾiššâ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ unto the Lord: yĕhōwâ

וְרָֽחֲצ֛וּ So they shall wash rāḥaṣ יְדֵיהֶ֥ם their hands yād וְרַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם and their feet, regel וְלֹ֣א not: lōʾ יָמֻ֑תוּ that they die mût וְהָֽיְתָ֨ה and it shall be hāyâ לָהֶ֧ם חָק a statute ḥōq עוֹלָ֛ם for ever ʿôlām ל֥וֹ וּלְזַרְע֖וֹ to them, to him and to his seed zeraʿ לְדֹֽרֹתָֽם׃ throughout their generations. dôr

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר spake dābar יְהוָ֖ה Moreover the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֥ה Moses, mōše לֵּאמֹֽר׃ saying, ʾāmar

וְאַתָּ֣ה thou ʾattâ קַח Take lāqaḥ לְךָ֮ בְּשָׂמִ֣ים spices, beśem רֹאשׁ֒ also unto thee principal rōš מָר myrrh mōr דְּרוֹר֙ of pure dĕrôr חֲמֵ֣שׁ five ḥāmēš מֵא֔וֹת hundred mēʾâ וְקִנְּמָן cinnamon qinnāmôn בֶּ֥שֶׂם and of sweet beśem מַֽחֲצִית֖וֹ half so much, maḥăṣît חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים and fifty ḥămiššîm וּמָאתָ֑יִם two hundred mēʾâ וּקְנֵה calamus qāne בֹ֖שֶׂם and of sweet beśem חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים and fifty ḥămiššîm וּמָאתָֽיִם׃ two hundred mēʾâ

וְקִדָּ֕ה And of cassia qiddâ חֲמֵ֥שׁ five ḥāmēš מֵא֖וֹת hundred mēʾâ בְּשֶׁ֣קֶל after the shekel šeqel הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ of the sanctuary, qōdeš וְשֶׁ֥מֶן and of oil šemen זַ֖יִת olive zayit הִֽין׃ an hin: hîn

וְעָשִׂ֣יתָ And thou shalt make ʿāśâ אֹת֗וֹ ʾēt שֶׁ֚מֶן it an oil šemen מִשְׁחַת ointment, mišḥâ קֹ֔דֶשׁ of holy qōdeš רֹ֥קַח an ointment rōqaḥ מִרְקַ֖חַת compound mirqaḥat מַֽעֲשֵׂ֣ה after the art maʿăśe רֹקֵ֑חַ of the apothecary: rāqaḥ שֶׁ֥מֶן oil. šemen מִשְׁחַת anointing mišḥâ קֹ֖דֶשׁ an holy qōdeš יִֽהְיֶֽה׃ it shall be hāyâ

וּמָֽשַׁחְתָּ֥ And thou shalt anoint māšaḥ ב֖וֹ אֶת ʾēt אֹ֣הֶל the tabernacle ʾōhel מוֹעֵ֑ד of the congregation môʿēd וְאֵ֖ת ʾēt אֲר֥וֹן therewith, and the ark ʾārôn הָֽעֵדֻֽת׃ of the testimony, ʿēdût

וְאֶת ʾēt הַשֻּׁלְחָן֙ And the table šulḥān וְאֶת ʾēt כָּל and all kōl כֵּלָ֔יו his vessels, kĕlî וְאֶת ʾēt הַמְּנֹרָ֖ה and the candlestick mĕnôrâ וְאֶת ʾēt כֵּלֶ֑יהָ and his vessels, kĕlî וְאֵ֖ת ʾēt מִזְבַּ֥ח and the altar mizbēaḥ הַקְּטֹֽרֶת׃ of incense, qĕṭōret

וְאֶת ʾēt מִזְבַּ֥ח And the altar mizbēaḥ הָֽעֹלָ֖ה of burnt offering ʿōlâ וְאֶת ʾēt כָּל with all kōl כֵּלָ֑יו his vessels, kĕlî וְאֶת ʾēt הַכִּיֹּ֖ר and the laver kiyyôr וְאֶת ʾēt כַּנּֽוֹ׃ and his foot. kēn

וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֣ And thou shalt sanctify qādaš אֹתָ֔ם ʾēt וְהָי֖וּ them, that they may be hāyâ קֹ֣דֶשׁ most qōdeš קָֽדָשִׁ֑ים holy: qōdeš כָּל whatsoever kōl הַנֹּגֵ֥עַ toucheth nāgaʿ בָּהֶ֖ם יִקְדָּֽשׁ׃ them shall be holy. qādaš

וְאֶת ʾēt אַֽהֲרֹ֥ן Aaron ʾahărôn וְאֶת ʾēt בָּנָ֖יו and his sons, bēn תִּמְשָׁ֑ח And thou shalt anoint māšaḥ וְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֥ and consecrate qādaš אֹתָ֖ם ʾēt לְכַהֵ֥ן them, that may minister unto me in the priest's office. kāhan לִֽי׃

וְאֶל unto ʾēl בְּנֵ֥י the children bēn יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל of Israel, yiśrāʾēl תְּדַבֵּ֣ר And thou shalt speak dābar לֵאמֹ֑ר saying, ʾāmar שֶׁ֠מֶן oil šemen מִשְׁחַת anointing mišḥâ קֹ֨דֶשׁ an holy qōdeš יִֽהְיֶ֥ה shall be hāyâ זֶ֛ה This ze לִ֖י לְדֹרֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃ unto me throughout your generations. dôr

עַל Upon ʿal בְּשַׂ֤ר flesh bāśār אָדָם֙ man's ʾādām לֹ֣א shall it not lōʾ יִיסָ֔ךְ be poured, yāsak וּבְמַ֨תְכֻּנְתּ֔וֹ after the composition matkōnet לֹ֥א neither lōʾ תַֽעֲשׂ֖וּ shall ye make ʿāśâ כָּמֹ֑הוּ like it, kĕmô קֹ֣דֶשׁ holy, qōdeš ה֔וּא of it: it hûʾ קֹ֖דֶשׁ holy unto you. qōdeš יִֽהְיֶ֥ה it shall be hāyâ לָכֶֽם׃

אִ֚ישׁ ʾîš אֲשֶׁ֣ר Whosoever ʾăšer יִרְקַ֣ח compoundeth rāqaḥ כָּמֹ֔הוּ like it, kĕmô וַֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר or whosoever ʾăšer יִתֵּ֛ן putteth nātan מִמֶּ֖נּוּ of min עַל it upon ʿal זָ֑ר a stranger, zûr וְנִכְרַ֖ת shall even be cut off kārat מֵֽעַמָּֽיו׃ from his people. ʿam

וַיֹּאמֶר֩ said ʾāmar יְהוָ֨ה And the Lord yĕhōwâ אֶל unto ʾēl מֹשֶׁ֜ה Moses, mōše קַח Take lāqaḥ לְךָ֣ סַמִּ֗ים unto thee sweet spices, sam נָטָ֤ף׀ stacte, nāṭāp וּשְׁחֵ֙לֶת֙ and onycha, šĕḥēlet וְחֶלְבְּנָ֔ה and galbanum; ḥelbĕnâ סַמִּ֖ים sweet spices sam וּלְבֹנָ֣ה frankincense: lĕbônâ זַכָּ֑ה with pure zak בַּ֥ד of each bad בְּבַ֖ד a like bad יִֽהְיֶֽה׃ shall there be hāyâ

וְעָשִׂ֤יתָ And thou shalt make ʿāśâ אֹתָהּ֙ ʾēt קְטֹ֔רֶת it a perfume, qĕṭōret רֹ֖קַח a confection rōqaḥ מַֽעֲשֵׂ֣ה after the art maʿăśe רוֹקֵ֑חַ of the apothecary, rāqaḥ מְמֻלָּ֖ח tempered together, mālaḥ טָה֥וֹר pure ṭāhôr קֹֽדֶשׁ׃ holy: qōdeš

וְשָֽׁחַקְתָּ֣ And thou shalt beat šāḥaq מִמֶּנָּה֮ of min הָדֵק֒ it very small, dāqaq וְנָֽתַתָּ֨ה and put nātan מִמֶּ֜נָּה of min לִפְנֵ֤י it before pānîm הָֽעֵדֻת֙ the testimony ʿēdût בְּאֹ֣הֶל in the tabernacle ʾōhel מוֹעֵ֔ד of the congregation, môʿēd אֲשֶׁ֛ר where ʾăšer אִוָּעֵ֥ד I will meet yāʿad לְךָ֖ שָׁ֑מָּה šām קֹ֥דֶשׁ unto you most qōdeš קָֽדָשִׁ֖ים holy. qōdeš תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה with thee: it shall be hāyâ לָכֶֽם׃

וְהַקְּטֹ֙רֶת֙ And the perfume qĕṭōret אֲשֶׁ֣ר which ʾăšer תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה thou shalt make, ʿāśâ בְּמַ֨תְכֻּנְתָּ֔הּ to yourselves according to the composition matkōnet לֹ֥א ye shall not lōʾ תַֽעֲשׂ֖וּ make ʿāśâ לָכֶ֑ם קֹ֛דֶשׁ unto thee holy qōdeš תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה thereof: it shall be hāyâ לְךָ֖ לַֽיהוָֽה׃ for the Lord. yĕhōwâ

אִ֛ישׁ ʾîš אֲשֶׁר Whosoever ʾăšer יַֽעֲשֶׂ֥ה shall make ʿāśâ כָמ֖וֹהָ like unto that, kĕmô לְהָרִ֣יחַ to smell rûaḥ בָּ֑הּ וְנִכְרַ֖ת thereto, shall even be cut off kārat מֵֽעַמָּֽיו׃ from his people. ʿam
