தேவவசனத்தைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டவர்களை தேவர்கள் என்று அவர் சொல்லியிருக்க, வேதவாக்கியமும் தவறாததாயிருக்க,

அதற்கு அவர்கள்: தங்கள் முன்னோர்களை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படச்செய்த தங்களுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைவிட்டு வேறு தெய்வங்களைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டு, அவர்களை வணங்கி தொழுதபடியால், கர்த்தர் இந்தத் தீங்கையெல்லாம் அவர்கள்மேல் வரச்செய்தார் என்று சொல்லுவார்கள் என்றார்.

மற்றவர்களோ, ‘அவர்கள் தமது தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை விட்டு விலகினார்கள். அதனால் இவ்வாறு ஆயிற்று. அவர்களது முற்பிதாக்களை அவர் எகிப்திலிருந்து மீட்டார். ஆனால் அவர்களோ அந்நிய தெய்வங்களை நாடினார்கள். அதனால் கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு இது போன்ற தீமைகளைச் செய்தார்’ என்பார்கள்” என்றார்.

அதற்கு மற்றவர்கள், ‘இவ்வினத்தார் தங்கள் மூதாதையரை எகிப்து நாட்டிலிருந்து அழைத்து வந்த தங்கள் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரை விட்டு விலகி வேற்றுத் தெய்வங்களை வழிபட்டு வணங்கி அவற்றுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்தனர். எனவே, ஆண்டவர் இத்துன்பமெல்லாம் அவர்களுக்கு வரச் செய்திருக்கிறார்’ என்பார்கள்.”

And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil.

and they shall answer, Because they forsook Jehovah their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath Jehovah brought all this evil upon them.

அதற்கு அவர்கள்: தங்கள் பிதாக்களை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைவிட்டு, வேறே தேவர்களைப் பற்றிக் கொண்டு, அவர்களை நமஸ்கரித்துச் சேவித்தபடியினால், கர்த்தர் இந்தத் தீங்கையெல்லாம் அவர்கள்மேல் வரப்பண்ணினார் என்று சொல்லுவார்கள் என்றார்.
