1 சாமுவேல் 18
10 மறுநாளிலே தேவனால் விடப்பட்ட பொல்லாத ஆவி சவுலின்மேல் இறங்கிற்று; அவன் வீட்டிற்குள்ளே தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; அப்பொழுது தாவீது தினந்தோறும் செய்கிறபடி, தன் கையினால் சுரமண்டலத்தை வாசித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; சவுலின் கையிலே ஈட்டியிருந்தது.
11 அப்பொழுது சவுல் தாவீதைச் சுவரோடே சேர்த்து உருவக் குத்திப்போடுவேன் என்று ஈட்டியை அவன்மேல் எறிந்தான்; ஆனாலும் தாவீது விலகி இரண்டுதரம் அவனுக்குத் தப்பினான்.
12 கர்த்தர் தாவீதோடேகூட இருக்கிறார் என்றும் தன்னை விட்டு விலகிப்போனார் என்றும், சவுல் கண்டு, தாவீதுக்குப் பயந்து,
13 அவனைத் தன்னைவிட்டு அப்புறப்படுத்தி, அவனை ஆயிரம்பேருக்கு அதிபதியாக வைத்தான்; அப்படியே அவன் ஜனத்திற்கு முன்பாகப் போக்கும் வரத்துமாயிருந்தான்.
14 தாவீது தன் செய்கைகளிலெல்லாம் புத்திமானாய் நடந்தான்; கர்த்தர் அவனோடேகூட இருந்தார்.
15 அவன் மகா புத்திமானாய் நடக்கிறதைச் சவுல் கண்டு, அவனுக்குப் பயந்திருந்தான்.
16 இஸ்ரவேலரும் யூதா ஜனங்களுமாகிய யாவரும் தாவீதைச் சிநேகித்தார்கள்; அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக அவன் போக்கும் வரத்துமாயிருந்தான்.
10 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.
11 And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.
12 And Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, and was departed from Saul.
13 Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people.
14 And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the Lord was with him.
15 Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.
16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.
