1 சாமுவேல் 19
1 தாவீதைக் கொன்றுபோடும்படிக்கு, சவுல் தன் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானோடும் தன் ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரோடும் பேசினான்.
2 சவுலின் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானோ, தாவீதின்மேல் மிகவும் பிரியமாயிருந்தான்; அதனால் யோனத்தான் தாவீதுக்கு அதை அறிவித்து: என் தகப்பனாகிய சவுல் உம்மைக் கொன்று போட வகைதேடுகிறார்; இப்போதும் நாளைக்காலமே நீர் எச்சரிக்கையாயிருந்து, மறைவான இடத்தில் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டிரும்.
3 நான் புறப்பட்டுவந்து, நீர் வெளியிலிருக்கும் இடத்தில் என் தகப்பன் பக்கத்திலே நின்று, உமக்காக என் தகப்பனோடே பேசி, நடக்கும் காரியத்தைக் கண்டு, உமக்கு அறிவிப்பேன் என்றான்.
4 அப்படியே யோனத்தான் தன் தகப்பனாகிய சவுலோடே தாவீதுக்காக நலமாய்ப் பேசி, ராஜா தம்முடைய அடியானாகிய தாவீதுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்யாதிருப்பாராக; அவன் உமக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்யவில்லை; அவன் செய்கைகள் உமக்கு மெத்த உபயோகமாயிருக்கிறதே.
5 அவன் தன் பிராணனைத் தன் கையிலே வைத்துக்கொண்டு, அந்தப் பெலிஸ்தனைக் கொன்றதினாலே, கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கெல்லாம் பெரிய இரட்சிப்பைக் கட்டளையிட்டதை நீர் கண்டு, சந்தோஷப்பட்டீரே; இப்போதும் முகாந்தரமில்லாமல் தாவீதைக் கொல்லுகிறதினால், குற்றமில்லாத இரத்தத்திற்கு விரோதமாக நீர் பாவஞ்செய்வானேன் என்றான்.
6 சவுல் யோனத்தனுடைய சொல்லைக் கேட்டு: அவன் கொலைசெய்யப்படுவதில்லை என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு ஆணையிட்டான்.
7 பின்பு யோனத்தான் தாவீதை அழைத்து, அந்த வார்த்தைகளையெல்லாம் அவனுக்கு அறிவித்து, அவனைச் சவுலண்டையிலே கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய் விட்டான்; அப்படியே அவன் முன் போலவே அவனுடைய சமுகத்தில் இருந்தான்.
1 And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.
2 But Jonathan Saul’s son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:
3 And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.
4 And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:
5 For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the Lord wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?
6 And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the Lord liveth, he shall not be slain.
7 And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.

1 பின்பு தாவீது: நான் எந்த நாளிலாகிலும் ஒருநாள் சவுலின் கையினால் மடிந்துபோவேன்; இனிச் சவுல் இஸ்ரவேலின் எல்லைகளில் எங்கேயாவது என்னைக் கண்டுபிடிக்கலாம் என்கிற நம்பிக்கை அற்றுப்போகும்படிக்கும், நான் அவன் கைக்கு நீங்கலாயிருக்கும்படிக்கும், நான் பெலிஸ்தரின் தேசத்திற்குப் போய், தப்பித்துக்கொள்வதப்பார்க்கிலும் நலமான காரியம் வேறில்லை என்று தன் இருதயத்தில் யோசித்தான்.
And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.
2 ஆகையால் தாவீது தன்னோடிருந்த அறுநூறுபேரோடுங்கூட எழுந்திருந்து, மாயோகின் குமாரனாகிய ஆகிஸ் என்னும் காத்தின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய்ச் சேர்ந்தான்.
And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.
3 அங்கே தாவீதும், அவன் மனுஷரும், அவரவர் வீட்டாரும், தாவீதோடேகூட அவன் இரண்டு மனைவிகளாகிய யெஸ்ரயேல் ஊராளாகிய அகினோவாமும், நாபாலின் மனைவியாயிருந்த கர்மேல் ஊராளாகிய அபிகாயிலும், காத்பட்டணத்தில் ஆகீசிடத்தில் தங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.
And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal’s wife.
4 தாவீது காத்பட்டணத்திற்கு ஓடிப்போனான் என்று சவுலுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, அவன் அப்புறம் அவனைத் தேடவில்லை.
And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.
5 தாவீது ஆகீசை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயைகிடைக்குமானால், நான் வாசம்பண்ணும்படி நாட்டிலுள்ள ஊர்களிலே ஒன்றில் எனக்கு இடந்தாரும்; உம்முடைய அடியான் உம்மோடேகூட ராஜதானி பட்டணத்திலே வாசமாயிருப்பானேன் என்றான்.
And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?
6 அப்பொழுது ஆகீஸ்: அன்றைய தினம் சிக்லாகை அவனுக்குக் கொடுத்தான்; அதினிமித்தம் சிக்லாக் இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் யூதாவின் ராஜாக்களைச் சேர்ந்திருக்கிறது.
Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: wherefore Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.
7 தாவீது பெலிஸ்தரின் நாட்டிலே ஒரு வருஷமும் நாலு மாதமும் குடியிருந்தான்.
And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.
