1 தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரர் எலிசாவை நோக்கி: இதோ, நாங்கள் உம்முடன் குடியிருக்கிற இந்த இடம் எங்களுக்கு நெருக்கமாய் இருக்கிறது.
2 நாங்கள் யோர்தான்மட்டும் போய் அவ்விடத்தில் ஒவ்வொருவர் ஒவ்வொரு உத்திரத்தை வெட்டி, குடியிருக்க அங்கே எங்களுக்கு ஒரு இடத்தை உண்டாக்குவோம் என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அவன்: போங்கள் என்றான்.
3 அவர்களில் ஒருவன்: நீர் தயவுசெய்து உமது அடியாரோடேகூட வரவேண்டும் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: நான் வருகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி,
4 அவர்களோடேகூடப் போனான்; அவர்கள் யோர்தான் நதியருகே வந்த போது மரங்களை வெட்டினார்கள்.
5 ஒருவன் ஒரு உத்திரத்தை வெட்டி விழுத்துகையில் கோடரி தண்ணீரில் விழுந்தது; அவன்: ஐயோ என் ஆண்டவனே, அது இரவலாக வாங்கப்பட்டதே என்று கூவினான்.
6 தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் அது எங்கே விழுந்தது என்று கேட்டான்; அவன் அந்த இடத்தைக் காண்பித்தபோது, ஒரு கொம்பை வெட்டி, அதை அங்கே எறிந்து, அந்த இரும்பை மிதக்கப்பண்ணி,
7 அதை எடுத்துக்கொள் என்றான்; அப்படியே அவன் தன் கையை நீட்டி அதை எடுத்துக்கொண்டான்.
1 And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
2 Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
3 And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
4 So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
6 And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
7 Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

அப்பொழுது ஏசாயா தீர்க்கதரிசி எசேக்கியா ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்து: அந்த மனிதர்கள் என்ன சொன்னார்கள், எங்கேயிருந்து உம்மிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள் என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு எசேக்கியா: பாபிலோன் என்னும் தூரதேசத்திலிருந்து வந்தார்கள் என்றான்.
