உரியா தாவீதை நோக்கி: பெட்டியும் இஸ்ரவேலும் யூதாவும் கூடாரங்களிலே தங்கி, என் ஆண்டவனாகிய யோவாபும், என் ஆண்டவனின் சேவகரும் வெளியிலே பாளயமிறங்கியிருக்கையில், நான் புசிக்கிறதற்கும், குடிக்கிறதற்கும், என் மனைவியோடே சயனிக்கிறதற்கும், என் வீட்டுக்குள் பிரவேசிப்பேனோ? நான் அப்படிச் செய்கிறதில்லை என்று உம்முடைய பேரிலும் உம்முடைய ஆத்துமாவின்பேரிலும் ஆணையிட்டுச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.

உரியா தாவீதை நோக்கி: பெட்டியும் இஸ்ரவேலும் யூதாவும் கூடாரங்களிலே தங்கி, என்னுடைய ஆண்டவனான யோவாபும் என்னுடைய ஆண்டவனின் வீரர்களும் வெளியிலே முகாமிட்டிருக்கும்போது, நான் சாப்பிடுவதற்கும், குடிக்கிறதற்கும், என்னுடைய மனைவியோடு உறங்கவும், என்னுடைய வீட்டிற்குள் நுழைவேனா? நான் அப்படிச் செய்கிறதில்லை என்று உம்முடையபேரிலும் உம்முடைய ஆத்துமாவின்பேரிலும் ஆணையிட்டுச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.

உரியா தாவீதை நோக்கி, “பரிசுத்தப் பெட்டியும், இஸ்ரவேல் யூதாவின் வீரர்களும் கூடாரங்களில் தங்கியுள்ளனர். எனது ஆண்டவனாகிய யோவாபும், என் ஆண்டவருடைய (தாவீதின்) அதிகாரிகளும் வெளியே முகாமிட்டுத் தங்கி இருக்கின்றனர். எனவே வீட்டிற்குச் சென்று உண்டு குடித்து மனைவியோடு உறவு கொள்வது எனக்கு முறையன்று” என்றான்.

அதற்கு உரியா தாவீதிடம், “பேழையும் இஸ்ரயேலரும் யூதாவினரும் கூடாரங்களில் தங்கியிருக்கின்றனர். என் தலைவர் யோவாபும் என் தலைவரின் பணியாளரும் திறந்த வெளியில் தங்கியிருக்கின்றனர். நான் மட்டும் என் வீட்டிற்குச் சென்று உண்டு குடித்தும் என் மனைவியோடு உறவுகொண்டும் இருப்பேனா? உம்மேலும் உம் உயிர்மேலும் ஆணை! நான் அப்படிச் செய்யவே மாட்டேன்” என்று சொன்னார்.⒫
