காத்தியரில் பரிசையும் ஈட்டியும் பிடித்து, சிங்கமுகம் போன்ற முகமும், மலைகளிலிருக்கிற வெளிமான் வேகம்போன்ற வேகமுமுள்ளவர்களாயிருந்து, யுத்தசேவகரான பராக்கிரமசாலிகள் சிலரும் வனாந்தரத்திலுள்ள அரணான இடத்தில் இருக்கிற தாவீது பட்சமாய்ச் சேர்ந்தார்கள்.

ஆண்டவராகிய கர்த்தர் என்பெலன்; அவர் என் கால்களை மான்கால்களைப்போலாக்கி, உயரமான ஸ்தலங்களில் என்னை நடக்கப்பண்ணுவார். இது நெகிநோத் என்னும் வாத்தியத்தில் வாசிக்க இராகத்தலைவனுக்கு ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட்ட Psalm.

தாவீது ஏத்தியனாகிய அகிமெலேக்கையும், செருயாவின் குமாரனும் யோவாபின் சகோதரனுமாகிய அபிசாயையும் பார்த்து: என்னோடேகூடச் சவுலிடத்திற்குப் பாளயத்தில் இறங்கிவருகிறவன் யார் என்றதற்கு, அபிசாய்: நான் உம்மோடேகூட வருகிறேன் என்றான்.

உயிரோடே இருக்கையில் சவுலும் யோனத்தானும் பிரியமும் இன்பமுமாயிருந்தார்கள்; மரணத்திலும் பிரிந்து போனதில்லை; கழுகுகளைப்பார்க்கிலும் வேகமும் சிங்கங்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் பலமுமுள்ளவர்களாயிருந்தார்கள்.

ஓத்சேம் என்னும் ஆறாம் குமாரனையும், தாவீது என்னும் ஏழாம் குமாரனையும் பெற்றான்.

இராணுவத்திலிருந்த மற்றப் பராக்கிரமசாலிகள்: யோவாபின் தம்பி ஆசகேல், பெத்லகேம் ஊரானாகிய தோதோவின் குமாரன் எல்க்கானான்,

அவர் குதிரையின் பலத்தில் விருப்பமாயிரார்; வீரனுடைய கால்களில் பிரியப்படார்.

நான் திரும்பிக்கொண்டு சூரியனுக்குக் கீழே கண்டதாவது: ஓடுகிறதற்கு வேகமுள்ளவர்களின் வேகமும், யுத்தத்துக்குச் சவுரியவான்களின் சவுரியமும் போதாது; பிழைப்புக்கு ஞானமுள்ளவர்களின் ஞானமும் போதாது; ஐசுவரியமடைகிறதற்குப் புத்திமான்களின் புத்தியும் போதாது; தயவு அடைகிறதற்கு வித்துவான்களின் அறிவும் போதாது; அவர்களெல்லாருக்கும் சமயமும் தேவச்செயலும் நேரிடவேண்டும்.
