அவர் நான் என் ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின நாள் முதற்கொண்டு, என் நாமம் விளங்கும்படி ஒரு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டவேண்டும் என்று நான் இஸ்ரவேலுடைய எல்லாக் கோத்திரங்களிலுமுள்ள ஒரு பட்டணத்தையும் தெரிந்துகொள்ளாமல் என் ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் அதிகாரியாயிருக்கும்படி தாவீதையே தெரிந்துகொண்டேன் என்றார்.

அவர் நான் என்னுடைய மக்களாகிய இஸ்ரவேலை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படச்செய்த நாள்முதல், என்னுடைய நாமம் வெளிப்படும்படி, ஒரு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டவேண்டும் என்று நான் இஸ்ரவேலுடைய எல்லாக் கோத்திரங்களிலும் உள்ள ஒரு பட்டணத்தையும் தெரிந்துகொள்ளாமல் என்னுடைய மக்களாகிய இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் அதிகாரியாக இருக்கும்படி தாவீதையே தெரிந்துகொண்டேன் என்றார்.

‘நான் என் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களை, எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியே கொண்டுவந்தேன். ஆனால் நான் இன்னும் என்னை மகிமைப்படுத்தும் ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டுவதற்குரிய இடத்தை இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களில் இருந்து தேர்ந்தெடுக்கவில்லை. அதோடு இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களை வழி நடத்திச் செல்லும் தலைவனையும் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கவில்லை. ஆனால், இப்போது நான் மகிமைப்படுவதற்குரிய இடமாக எருசலேமை தேர்ந்தெடுத்துள்ளேன். அதோடு, இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களை வழிநடத்திச் செல்ல தாவீதைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்துவிட்டேன்.’
