அப்படிப்பட்டவன் இந்த ஆணையுறுதியின் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டும், தாகத்தினிமித்தம் வெறிக்கக் குடித்து, மன இஷ்டப்படி நடந்தாலும் எனக்குச் சுகமுண்டாயிருக்கும் என்று தன் உள்ளத்தைத் தேற்றிக்கொண்டால், கர்த்தர் அவனை மன்னிக்கச் சித்தமாயிரார்.

“ஒருவன் இந்தச் சாபங்களைக் கேட்கலாம். ஆனால் அவன் தன்னை ஆறுதல்படுத்திக்கொண்டு தனக்குள், ‘நான் என் விருப்பம் போல்தான் செய்வேன். எனக்கு எந்தத் தீமையும் ஏற்படாது’ என்று சொல்லலாம். அவன் தனக்கு மட்டும் தீமையை வரவழைப்பதில்லை. ஆனால் எல்லோருக்கும், நல்லவர்களுக்கும் கூடத் தீமையை வரவழைக்கிறான்.

அத்தகையோர் இந்த வாக்குறுதியின் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்ட பின்பும், ‘நாங்கள் இதயப்பிடிவாதத்தோடு நடந்தாலும், எங்களுக்கு எல்லாம் நலமாகும்’ என்று சொல்லித் தங்களையே தேற்றிக் கொள்வார்களாகில், பசுமையானதும் உலர்ந்ததும் சேர்ந்தழியும்.

in his heart, בִּלְבָב֤וֹ lēbāb lay-VAHV
saying, לֵאמֹר֙ ʾāmar ah-MAHR
peace, שָׁל֣וֹם šālôm sha-LOME
I shall have יִֽהְיֶה hāyâ ha-YA

in the imagination בִּשְׁרִר֥וּת šĕrîrût sheh-ree-ROOT
of mine heart, לִבִּ֖י lēb lave
