1 யோசுவா மரித்தபின் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி: கானானியரை எதிர்த்து யுத்தம்பண்ணும்படி, எங்களில் யார் முதல்முதல் எழுந்து புறப்படவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள். Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?

And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.

5 பேசேக்கிலே அதோனிபேசேக்கைக் கண்டு, அவனோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணி, கானானியரையும் பெரிசியரையும் வெட்டினார்கள். And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

9 பின்பு யூதாவின் புத்திரர் மலைத்தேசத்திலேயும், தெற்கேயும், பள்ளத்தாக்குகளிலேயும் குடியிருக்கிற கானானியரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள். And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.

And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba:) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wilt thou?

And the children of the Kenite, Moses' father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.

And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.

18 யூதா காசாவையும் அதின் எல்லையையும், அஸ்கலோனையும் அதின் எல்லையையும், எக்ரோனையும் அதின் எல்லையையும் பிடித்தான். Also Judah took Gaza with the coast thereof, and Askelon with the coast thereof, and Ekron with the coast thereof.

19 கர்த்தர் யூதாவோடேகூட இருந்ததினால், மலைத்தேசத்தாரைத் துரத்திவிட்டார்கள்; பள்ளத்தாக்கின் குடிகளுக்கு இருப்புரதங்கள் இருந்தபடியினால், அவர்களைத் துரத்த கூடாமற்போயிற்று. And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.

22 யோசேப்பின் குடும்பத்தாரும் பெத்தேலுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் போனார்கள்; கர்த்தர் அவர்களோடேகூட இருந்தார். And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel: and the LORD was with them.

23 யோசேப்பின் புத்திரர் பெத்தேலை வேவுபார்க்க ஆட்களை அனுப்பினார்கள்; முன்னே அந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்கு லுூஸ் என்று பேர். And the house of Joseph sent to descry Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.)

24 அந்த வேவுகாரர் பட்டணத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு வருகிற ஒரு மனுஷனைக் கண்டு: பட்டணத்திற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கும் வழியை எங்களுக்குக் காண்பி, உனக்குத் தயைசெய்வோம் என்றார்கள். And the spies saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said unto him, Show us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will show thee mercy.

25 அப்படியே பட்டணத்திற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கும் வழியை அவர்களுக்குக் காண்பித்தான்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் வந்து, பட்டணத்திலுள்ளவர்களைப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் வெட்டி, அந்த மனுஷனையும் அவன் குடும்பத்தையும் விட்டுவிட்டார்கள். And when he showed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.

26 அப்பொழுது அந்த மனுஷன் ஏத்தியரின் தேசத்திற்குப் போய், ஒரு பட்டணத்தைக் கட்டி, அதற்கு லுூஸ் என்று பேரிட்டான்; அதுதான் இந்நாள் மட்டும் அதின் பேர். And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name thereof Luz: which is the name thereof unto this day.

Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

28 இஸ்ரவேலர் பலத்தபோது, கானானியரை முற்றிலும் துரத்திவிடாமல் பகுதி கட்டப்பண்ணினார்கள். And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

29 எப்பிராயீம் கோத்திரத்தார் கேசேரிலே குடியிருந்த கானானியரையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை; ஆகையால் கானானியர் கேசேரில் அவர்கள் நடுவே குடியிருந்தார்கள். Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

30 செபுலோன் கோத்திரத்தார் கித்ரோனின் குடிகளையும், நாகலோலின் குடிகளையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை, ஆகையால் கானானியர் அவர்கள் நடுவே குடியிருந்து, பகுதி கட்டுகிறவர்களானார்கள். Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.

31 ஆசேர் கோத்திரத்தார் அக்கோவின் குடிகளையும், சீதோனின் குடிகளையும், அக்லாப், அக்சீப், எல்பா, ஆப்பீக், சேகோப் பட்டணங்களின் குடிகளையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை. Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:

32 ஆசேரியர் தேசத்தின் குடிகளாகிய கானானியரின் நடுவே குடியிருந்தார்கள்; அவர்களை அவர்கள் துரத்திவிடவில்லை. But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.

Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became tributaries unto them.

34 எமோரியர் தாண் புத்திரரைப் பள்ளத்தாக்கில் இறங்கவொட்டாமல், மலைத்தேசத்திற்குப் போகும்படி நெருக்கினார்கள். And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:

35 எமோரியர் ஏரேஸ் மலைகளிலும் ஆயலோனிலும் சால்பீமிலும் குடியிருக்கவேண்டும் என்று இருந்தார்கள்; ஆனாலும் யோசேப்பின் குடும்பத்தாரின் கை பலத்தபடியினால், அவர்களுக்குப் பகுதிகட்டுகிறவர்களானார்கள். But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.

36 எமோரியரின் எல்லை அக்கராபீமுக்குப் போகிற மேடுதொடங்கி அதற்கு அப்புறமும் போயிற்று. And the coast of the Amorites was from the going up to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.

Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?

2 Atharkuk Karththar: yoothaa elunthu purappadakkadavan; itho, antha thaesaththai avan kaiyilae oppukkoduththaen entar. And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

3 Appoluthu yoothaa than sakotharanaakiya simiyonai Nnokki: naam kaanaaniyarotae yuththampannna nee en suthantharap panguveethaththil ennotaekooda elunthu vaa; un suthantharap pangu veethaththil naanum unnodukooda varuvaen entan; appatiyae simiyon avanotaekooda ponaan. And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.

4 Yoothaa elunthuponapothu, Karththar kaanaaniyaraiyum perisiyaraiyum avarkal kaiyilae oppukkoduththaar; avarkal paesekkilae pathinaayirampaeraiyum vettinaarkal. And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.

5 Paesekkilae athonipaesekkaik kanndu, avanodu yuththampannnni, kaanaaniyaraiyum perisiyaraiyum vettinaarkal. And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

6 Athonipaesek otippokaiyil, avanaip pinthodarnthu pitiththu, avan kaikaalkalin peruviralkalaith thariththup pottarkal. But Adonibezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.

7 Appoluthu athonipaesek: elupathu raajaakkal, kaikaalkalin peruviralkal tharikkappattavarkalaay, en maejaiyingeel vilunthathaip poraுkkith thintarkal; naan eppatich seythaeno, appatiyae Dhevan enakkum seythu sarikkattinaar entan. Avanai erusalaemukkuk konnduponaarkal; angae avan seththupponaan. And Adonibezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

8 Yoothaavin puththirar erusalaeminmael yuththampannnni, athaippitiththu, athilullavarkalaip pattayak karukkinaal vettip, pattanaththai akkinikku iraiyaakkivittarkal. Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

9 Pinpu yoothaavin puththirar malaiththaesaththilaeyum, therkaeyum, pallaththaakkukalilaeyum kutiyirukkira kaanaaniyarodu yuththampannnap purappattupponaarkal. And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.

10 Appatiyae yoothaa koththiraththaar epironilae kutiyirukkira kaanaaniyarukku virothamaayp poy, sesaay, ageemaan, thalmaay enpavarkalai vettippottarkal. Murkaalaththil antha epironukku geeriyaath arpaa entu paer. And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba:) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

11 Angaeyirunthu thepeerin kutikalukku virothamaakap ponaarkal; murkaalaththil thepeerukku geeriyaathseppaer entu paer. And from thence he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher:

12 Appothu kaalaep: geeriyaathseppaerai sangaarampannnnip pitikkiravanukku en kumaaraththiyaakiya aksaalai vivaakam pannnnikkoduppaen entan. And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

13 Appothu kaalaeputaiya thampiyaakiya kaenaasin kumaaran othniyael athaip pitiththaan; aakaiyaal than kumaaraththiyaakiya aksaalai avanukku vivaakam pannnnikkoduththaan. And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

14 Aval purappadukaiyil, en thakappanidaththil oru vayalveliyaik kaetkavaenndum entu avanidaththil uththaravu pettaுkkonndu, kaluthaiyinmaelirunthu iranginaal; kaalaep avalai Nnokki: unakku enna vaenndum entan. And it came to pass, when she came to him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wilt thou?

16 Mosesyin maamanaakiya kaeniyanin puththirarum yoothaavin puththirarotaekoodap paereechchamarangalin pattanaththilirunthu aaraaththirkuth therkaeyirukkira yoothaavin vanaantharaththirku vanthu, janangalotae kutiyaerinaarkal. And the children of the Kenite, Moses' father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which lieth in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.

17 Yoothaa than sakotharanaakiya simiyonodungaூdap ponaan, avarkal seppaaththil kutiyirukkira kaanaaniyarai muriya atiththu, athaich sangaaram pannnni, anthap pattanaththirku ormaa entu paerittarkal. And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.

18 Yoothaa kaasaavaiyum athin ellaiyaiyum, askalonaiyum athin ellaiyaiyum, ekronaiyum athin ellaiyaiyum pitiththaan. Also Judah took Gaza with the coast thereof, and Askelon with the coast thereof, and Ekron with the coast thereof.

19 Karththar yoothaavotaekooda irunthathinaal, malaiththaesaththaaraith thuraththivittarkal; pallaththaakkin kutikalukku iruppurathangal irunthapatiyinaal, avarkalaith thuraththa koodaamarpoyittaு. And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

20 Moses sonnapatiyae, epironaik kaalaepukkuk koduththaarkal; avan athiliruntha aenaakkin moontu kumaararaiyum thuraththivittan. And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak.

21 Penyameen puththirar erusalaemilae kutiyiruntha epoosiyaraiyum thuraththividavillai; aakaiyaal epoosiyar innaal mattum penyameen puththirarotaekooda erusalaemil kutiyirukkiraarkal. And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.

22 Yoseppin kudumpaththaarum peththaelukku virothamaayp ponaarkal; Karththar avarkalotaekooda irunthaar. And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel: and the LORD was with them.

23 Yoseppin puththirar peththaelai vaevupaarkka aatkalai anuppinaarkal; munnae anthap pattanaththirku luூs entu paer. And the house of Joseph sent to descry Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.)

24 Antha vaevukaarar pattanaththilirunthu purappattu varukira oru manushanaik kanndu: pattanaththirkul piravaesikkum valiyai engalukkuk kaannpi, unakkuth thayaiseyvom entarkal. And the spies saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said unto him, Show us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will show thee mercy.

25 Appatiyae pattanaththirkul piravaesikkum valiyai avarkalukkuk kaannpiththaan; appoluthu avarkal vanthu, pattanaththilullavarkalaip pattayakkarukkinaal vetti, antha manushanaiyum avan kudumpaththaiyum vittuvittarkal. And when he showed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.

26 Appoluthu antha manushan aeththiyarin thaesaththirkup poy, oru pattanaththaik katti, atharku luூs entu paerittan; athuthaan innaal mattum athin paer. And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name thereof Luz: which is the name thereof unto this day.

27 Manaase koththiraththaar pethseyaan pattanaththaaraiyum atharku aduththa oorkalin manusharaiyum, thaanaak pattanaththaaraiyum, atharku aduththa oorkalin manusharaiyum, thorin kutikalaiyum atharku aduththa oorkalin manusharaiyum, ipleyaam pattanaththaaraiyum atharku aduththa oorkalin manusharaiyum, mekithovin kutikalaiyum atharku aduththa oorkalin manusharaiyum thuraththividavillai; kaanaaniyar antha thaesaththilae thaanae kutiyirukkavaenndum entu irunthaarkal. Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

28 Isravaelar palaththapothu, kaanaaniyarai muttilum thuraththividaamal pakuthi kattappannnninaarkal. And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

29 Eppiraayeem koththiraththaar kaeserilae kutiyiruntha kaanaaniyaraiyum thuraththividavillai; aakaiyaal kaanaaniyar kaeseril avarkal naduvae kutiyirunthaarkal. Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

30 Sepulon koththiraththaar kithronin kutikalaiyum, naakalolin kutikalaiyum thuraththividavillai, aakaiyaal kaanaaniyar avarkal naduvae kutiyirunthu, pakuthi kattukiravarkalaanaarkal. Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.

31 Aaser koththiraththaar akkovin kutikalaiyum, seethonin kutikalaiyum, aklaap, akseep, elpaa, aappeek, sekop pattanangalin kutikalaiyum thuraththividavillai. Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:

32 Aaseriyar thaesaththin kutikalaakiya kaanaaniyarin naduvae kutiyirunthaarkal; avarkalai avarkal thuraththividavillai. But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.

33 Napthali koththiraththaar pethshimaesin kutikalaiyum peththaanaaththina kutikalaiyum thuraththividaamal, thaesaththin kutikalaakiya kaanaaniyarin naduvae kutiyirunthaarkal; pethshimaes, peththaanaath pattanangalin kutikal avarkalukkup pakuthikattukiravarkalaanaarkal. Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became tributaries unto them.

34 Emoriyar thaann puththiraraip pallaththaakkil irangavottamal, malaiththaesaththirkup pokumpati nerukkinaarkal. And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:

35 Emoriyar aeraes malaikalilum aayalonilum saalpeemilum kutiyirukkavaenndum entu irunthaarkal; aanaalum yoseppin kudumpaththaarin kai palaththapatiyinaal, avarkalukkup pakuthikattukiravarkalaanaarkal. But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.

36 Emoriyarin ellai akkaraapeemukkup pokira maeduthodangi atharku appuramum poyittaு. And the coast of the Amorites was from the going up to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
