1 கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் கில்காலிலிருந்து போகீமுக்கு வந்து: நான் உங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணி உங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்ட தேசத்தில் நான் உங்களைக் கொண்டு வந்து விட்டு, உங்களோடே பண்ணின என் உடன்படிக்கையை நான் ஒருக்காலும் முறித்துப்போடுவதில்லை என்றும், And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

2 நீங்கள் இந்த தேசத்தின் குடிகளோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணாமல், அவர்கள் பலிபீடங்களை இடித்துவிடக்கடவீர்கள் என்றும் சொன்னேன்; ஆனாலும் என் சொல்லைக் கேளாதேபோனீர்கள்; ஏன் இப்படிச் செய்தீர்கள்? And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?

Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

4 கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் இந்த வார்த்தைகளை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் எல்லாரோடும் சொல்லுகையில், ஜனங்கள் உரத்த சத்தமிட்டு அழுதார்கள். And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

5 அவ்விடத்திற்குப் போகீம் என்று பேரிட்டு, அங்கே கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிட்டார்கள். And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.

6 யோசுவா இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய ஜனங்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டபோது, அவர்கள் தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக் கொள்ள அவரவர் தங்கள் தங்கள் சுதந்தர வீதத்திற்குப் போனார்கள். And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.

7 யோசுவாவின் சகல நாட்களிலும் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்காகச் செய்த அவருடைய பெரிய கிரியைகளையெல்லாம் கண்டவர்களும், யோசுவாவுக்குப் பின்பு உயிரோடிருந்தவர்களுமாகிய மூப்பரின் சகல நாட்களிலும் ஜனங்கள் கர்த்தரைச் சேவித்தார்கள். And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.

8 நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவா என்னும் கர்த்தரின் ஊழியக்காரன் நூற்றுப்பத்து வயதுள்ளவனாய் மரணமடைந்தான். And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

9 அவனை எப்பிராயீமின் மலைத்தேசத்திலுள்ள காயாஸ் மலைக்கு வடக்கேயிருக்கிற அவனுடைய சுதந்தரத்தின் எல்லையாகிய திம்னாத்ஏரேசிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள். And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.

10 அக்காலத்தில் இருந்த அந்தச் சந்ததியார் எல்லாரும் தங்கள் பிதாக்களுடன் சேர்க்கப்பட்டபின்பு, கர்த்தரையும், அவர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்காகச் செய்த கிரியையையும் அறியாத வேறொரு சந்ததி அவர்களுக்குப்பின் எழும்பிற்று. And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

11 அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்து, பாகால்களைச் சேவித்து, And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:

12 தங்கள் பிதாக்களை எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின அவர்களுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை விட்டு, தங்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற ஜனங்கலுடைய தேவர்களாகிய அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றிப்போய், அவர்களைப் பணிந்துகொண்டு, கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமூட்டினார்கள் And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

13 அவர்கள் கர்த்தரை விட்டு, பாகாலையும் அஸ்தரோத்தையும் சேவித்தார்கள். And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

14 அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல் கோபமூண்டவராகி, அவர்கள் அப்புறம் தங்கள் சத்துருக்களுக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கக் கூடாதபடி கொள்ளையிடுகிற கொள்ளைக்காரர் கையில் அவர்களை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, அவர்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற அவர்கள் பகைஞரின் கையிலே விற்றுப்போட்டார். And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

15 கர்த்தர் சொல்லியபடியும், கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டிருந்தபடியும், அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போகிற இடமெல்லாம் கர்த்தருடைய கை தீமைக்கென்றே அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாயிருந்தது; மிகவும் நெருக்கப்பட்டார்கள். Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

16 கர்த்தர் நியாயாதிபதிகளை எழும்பப்பண்ணினார்; அவர்கள் கொள்ளையிடுகிறவர்களின் கைக்கு அவர்களை நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சித்தார்கள். Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.

17 அவர்கள் தங்கள் நியாயாதிபதிகளின் சொல்லைக் கேளாமல், அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றிச் சோரம்போய், அவைகளைப் பணிந்துகொண்டார்கள்; தங்கள் பிதாக்கள் கர்த்தரின் கற்பனைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து நடந்த வழியை அவர்கள் சீக்கிரமாய் விட்டு விலகி, அவர்கள் செய்தபடி செய்யாமற்போனார்கள். And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so.

And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

21 யோசுவா மரித்துப் பின்வைத்துப்போன ஜாதிகளில் ஒருவரையும், நான் இனி அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தி விடாதிருப்பேன். I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:

That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.

23 அதற்காகக் கர்த்தர் அந்த ஜாதிகளை யோசுவாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடாமலும், அவைகளைச் சீக்கிரமாய்த் துரத்திவிடாமலும் விட்டுவைத்தார். Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.

1 Karththarutaiya thoothanaanavar kilkaalilirunthu pogeemukku vanthu: naan ungalai ekipthilirunthu purappadappannnni ungal pithaakkalukku aannaiyitta thaesaththil naan ungalaik konndu vanthu vittu, ungalotae pannnnina en udanpatikkaiyai naan orukkaalum muriththuppoduvathillai entum, And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

2 Neengal intha thaesaththin kutikalotae udanpatikkaipannnnaamal, avarkal palipeedangalai itiththuvidakkadaveerkal entum sonnaen; aanaalum en sollaik kaelaathaeponeerkal; aen ippatich seytheerkal? And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?

3 Aakaiyaal naan avarkalai ungal mukaththirku munpaakath thuraththuvathillai enten; avarkal ungalai nerukkuvaarkal; avarkalutaiya thaevarkal ungalukkuk kannnniyaavaarkal entar. Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

4 Karththarutaiya thoothanaanavar intha vaarththaikalai Israel puththirar ellaarodum sollukaiyil, janangal uraththa saththamittu aluthaarkal. And it came to pass, when the angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

5 Avvidaththirkup pogeem entu paerittu, angae karththarukkup paliyittarkal. And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.

6 Yosuvaa Israel puththiraraakiya janangalai anuppivittapothu, avarkal thaesaththaich suthanthariththuk kolla avaravar thangal thangal suthanthara veethaththirkup ponaarkal. And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.

7 Yosuvaavin sakala naatkalilum Karththar isravaelukkaakach seytha avarutaiya periya kiriyaikalaiyellaam kanndavarkalum, yosuvaavukkup pinpu uyirotirunthavarkalumaakiya moopparin sakala naatkalilum janangal karththaraich seviththaarkal. And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.

8 Noonin kumaaranaakiya yosuvaa ennum karththarin ooliyakkaaran noottaுppaththu vayathullavanaay maranamatainthaan. And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

9 Avanai eppiraayeemin malaiththaesaththilulla kaayaas malaikku vadakkaeyirukkira avanutaiya suthantharaththin ellaiyaakiya thimnaathaeraesilae adakkampannnninaarkal. And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathheres, in the mount of Ephraim, on the north side of the hill Gaash.

10 Akkaalaththil iruntha anthach santhathiyaar ellaarum thangal pithaakkaludan serkkappattapinpu, karththaraiyum, avar isravaelukkaakach seytha kiriyaiyaiyum ariyaatha vaeroru santhathi avarkalukkuppin elumpittaு. And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

11 Appoluthu Israel puththirar karththarin paarvaikkup pollaappaanathaich seythu, paakaalkalaich seviththu, And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:

12 Thangal pithaakkalai ekipthuthaesaththilirunthu purappadappannnnina avarkalutaiya thaevanaakiya karththarai vittu, thangalaich suttilum irukkira janangalutaiya thaevarkalaakiya anniya thaevarkalaip pinpattippoy, avarkalaip panninthukonndu, karththarukkuk kopamoottinaarkal And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

13 Avarkal karththarai vittu, paakaalaiyum astharoththaiyum seviththaarkal. And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.

14 Appoluthu Karththar isravaelin mael kopamoonndavaraaki, avarkal appuram thangal saththurukkalukku munpaaka nirkak koodaathapati kollaiyidukira kollaikkaarar kaiyil avarkalai oppukkoduththu, avarkalaich suttilum irukkira avarkal pakainjarin kaiyilae vittaுppottar. And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.

15 Karththar solliyapatiyum, Karththar avarkalukku aannaiyittirunthapatiyum, avarkal purappattuppokira idamellaam karththarutaiya kai theemaikkente avarkalukku virothamaayirunthathu; mikavum nerukkappattarkal. Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.

16 Karththar niyaayaathipathikalai elumpappannnninaar; avarkal kollaiyidukiravarkalin kaikku avarkalai neengalaakki iratchiththaarkal. Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.

17 Avarkal thangal niyaayaathipathikalin sollaik kaelaamal, anniya thaevarkalaip pinpattich sorampoy, avaikalaip panninthukonndaarkal; thangal pithaakkal karththarin karpanaikalukkuk geelppatinthu nadantha valiyai avarkal seekkiramaay vittu vilaki, avarkal seythapati seyyaamarponaarkal. And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so.

18 Karththar avarkalukku niyaayaathipathikalai elumpappannnukirapothu, Karththar niyaayaathipathiyotaekooda irunthu, antha niyaayaathipathiyin naatkalilellaam avarkal saththurukkalin kaikku avarkalai neengalaakki iratchiththuvaruvaar; avarkal thangalai iraுkappitiththu odukkukiravarkalinimiththam thavikkirathinaalae, Karththar manasthaapappaduvaar. And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

19 Niyaayaathipathi maranamataintha udanae, avarkal thirumpi, anniya thaevarkalaip pinpattavum sevikkavum panninthu kollavum, thangal pithaakkalaippaarkkilum kaedaay nadanthu, thangal kirththiyangalaiyum thangal murattattamaana valiyaiyum vidaathiruppaarkal. And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

20 Aakaiyaal Karththar isravaelin mael kopamoonndavaraaki; intha janangal thangal pithaakkalukku naan karpiththa en udanpatikkaiyai meeri en sollaik kaelaathaeponapatiyaal, And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;

21 Yosuvaa mariththup pinvaiththuppona jaathikalil oruvaraiyum, naan ini avarkalukku munpaakath thuraththi vidaathiruppaen. I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:

22 Avarkal pithaakkal karththarin valiyaik kavaniththathupola, avarkal athilae nadakkumpatikku, athaik kavanippaarkalo illaiyo entu, avarkalaikkonndu isravaelaich sothippatharkaaka appatich seyvaen entar. That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.

23 Atharkaakak Karththar antha jaathikalai yosuvaavin kaiyil oppukkodaamalum, avaikalaich seekkiramaayth thuraththividaamalum vittuvaiththaar. Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
