ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் அசீரியா ராஜாவைக்குறித்து: அவன் இந்த நகரத்துக்குள் பிரவேசிப்பதில்லை; இதின்மேல் அம்பு எய்வதுமில்லை; இதற்குமுன்பாகக் கேடகத்தோடே வருவதுமில்லை; இதற்கு எதிராகக் கொத்தளம்போடுவதுமில்லை.

அப்பொழுது வம்ச அட்டவணைகளைப் பார்ப்பதற்கு, நான் பிரபுக்களையும் அதிகாரிகளையும் மக்களையும் கூடிவரச்செய்ய, என்னுடைய தேவன் என்னுடைய மனதிலே ஒரு எண்ணத்தை உண்டாக்கினார்; முதலில் வந்தவர்களின் வம்ச அட்டவணைப் புத்தகம் அப்பொழுது எனக்கு கிடைத்தது; அதிலே எழுதியிருக்க நான் கண்டது என்னவென்றால்:

எனவே என்னுடைய தேவன் என் இதயத்தில் அனைத்து ஜனங்களும் கூடவேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணத்தை உண்டாக்கினார். முக்கியமான ஜனங்களையும் அதிகாரிகளையும் பொது ஜனங்களையும் கூட்டத்திற்கு நான் அழைத்தேன். நான் இதனைச் செய்தேன். அதனால் அனைத்து குடும்பங்களையும் பற்றி ஒரு பட்டியல் செய்ய என்னால் முடிந்தது. முன்னால் வந்தவர்களின் வம்ச பட்டியல் எனக்கு அப்பொழுது கிடைத்தது. இதுதான் நான் கண்ட எழுத்துக்கள்:
