நியாயாதிபதிகள் 6
1 பின்னும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் அவர்களை ஏழு வருஷம் மீதியானியரின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.
2 மீதியானியரின் கை இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல்பலத்துக்கொண்டபடியால், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் மீதியானியர் நிமித்தம் தங்களுக்கு மலைகளிலுள்ள கெபிகளையும் குகைகளையும் அரணான ஸ்தலங்களையும் அடைக்கலங்களாக்கிக்கொண்டார்கள்.
3 இஸ்ரவேலர் விதை விதைத்திருக்கும் போது, மீதியானியரும் அமலேக்கியரும் கிழக்கத்திப் புத்திரரும் அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் எழும்பி வந்து;
4 அவர்களுக்கு எதிரே பாளயமிறங்கி, காசாவின் எல்லைமட்டும் நிலத்தின் விளைச்சலைக் கெடுத்து, இஸ்ரவேலிலே ஆகாரத்தையாகிலும், ஆடுமாடுகள் கழுதைகளையாகிலும் வைக்காதே போவார்கள்.
5 அவர்கள் தங்கள் மிருகஜீவன்களோடும், தங்கள் கூடாரங்களோடும், வெட்டுக்கிளிகளைப்போல் திரளாய் வருவார்கள்; அவர்களும் அவர்கள் ஒட்டகங்களும் எண்ணிமுடியாததாயிருக்கும்; இந்தப்பிரகாரமாக தேசத்தைக் கெடுத்துவிட அதிலே வருவார்கள்.
6 இப்படி மீதியானியராலே இஸ்ரவேலர் மிகவும் சிறுமைப்பட்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி முறையிட்டார்கள்.
7 இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் மீதியானியர் நிமித்தம் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி முறையிட்டபோது,
8 கர்த்தர் ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசியை அவர்களிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பினார்; அவன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உரைக்கிறது என்னவென்றால்: நான் உங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து வரவும், அடிமைத்தன வீட்டிலிருந்து புறப்படவும் செய்து,
9 எகிப்தியர் கையினின்றும், உங்களை ஒடுக்கின யாவருடைய கையினின்றும் உங்களை இரட்சித்து, அவர்களை உங்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தி, அவர்கள் தேசத்தை உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்து,
10 நான் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் என்றும், நீங்கள் குடியிருக்கும் அவர்கள் தேசத்திலுள்ள எமோΰியருடைί தேவர்Εளுக்குப் பயப்படாதிருங்கள் என்றும், உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னேன்; நீங்களோ என் சொல்லைக் கேளாதேபோனீர்கள் என்கிறார் என்று சொன்னான்.
1 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
2 And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.
3 And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;
4 And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.
5 For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
6 And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the Lord.
7 And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord because of the Midianites,
8 That the Lord sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;
9 And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land;
10 And I said unto you, I am the Lord your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice.

1 எப்பிராயீம் மனுஷர் ஏகமாய்க் கூடி வடக்கே புறப்பட்டுப்போய், யெப்தாவை நோக்கி: நீ எங்களை உன்னோடேகூட வரும்படி அழைப்பியாமல் அம்மோன் புத்திரர்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணப்போனதென்ன? உன் வீட்டையும் உன்னையும்கூட அக்கினியால் சுட்டுப்போடுவோம் என்றார்கள்.
And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.
2 அதற்கு யெப்தா: எனக்கும் என் ஜனத்திற்கும் அம்மோன் புத்திரரோடே பெரிய வழக்கு இருக்கும்போது, நான் உங்களைக் கூப்பிட்டேன்; நீங்கள் என்னை அவர்கள் கைக்கு நீங்கலாக்கி ரட்சிக்கவில்லை.
And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.
3 நீங்கள் என்னை ரட்சிக்கவில்லை என்று நான் கண்டபோது, நான் என் ஜீவனை என் கையிலே பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, அம்மோன் புத்திரருக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் போனேன்; கர்த்தர் அவர்களை என் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; இப்படியிருக்க, நீங்கள் என் மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண, இன்று என்னிடத்திற்கு வரவேண்டியது என்ன என்று சொன்னான்.
And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the Lord delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?
4 பின்பு யெப்தா கீலேயாத் மனுஷரையெல்லாம் கூட்டி, எப்பிராயீமரோடு யுத்தம் பண்ணினான்; எப்பிராயீமுக்கும் மனாசேக்கும் நடுவே குடியிருக்கிற கீலேயாத்தியரான நீங்கள் எப்பிராயீமைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போனவர்கள் என்று எப்பிராயீமர் சொன்னபடியினால், கீலேயாத் மனுஷர் அவர்களை முறிய அடித்தார்கள்.
Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.
5 கீலேயாத்தியர் எப்பிராயீமருக்கு முந்தி யோர்தானின் துறைகளைப் பிடித்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது எப்பிராயீமரிலே தப்பினவர்களில் யாராவது வந்து: நான் அக்கரைக்குப் போகட்டும் என்று சொல்லும்போது, கீலேயாத் மனுஷர்: நீ எப்பிராயீமனா என்று அவனைக் கேட்பார்கள்; அவன் அல்ல என்றால்,
And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;
6 நீ ஷிபோலேத் என்று சொல் என்பார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவன் அப்படி உச்சரிக்கக் கூடாமல், சிபோலேத் என்பான்; அப்பொழுது அவனைப் பிடித்து, யோர்தான் துறையிலே வெட்டிப்போடுவார்கள்; அக்காலத்திலே எப்பிராயீமில் நாற்பத்தீராயிரம்பேர் விழுந்தார்கள்.
Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.
7 யெப்தா இஸ்ரவேலை ஆறு வருஷம் நியாயம் விசாரித்தான்; பின்பு கீலேயாத்தியனான யெப்தா மரித்து, கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ஒரு பட்டணத்தில் அடக்கம் பண்ணப்பட்டான்.
And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.
