அப்பொழுது கர்த்தரின் கோபமும் எரிச்சலும் அந்த மனிதன்மேல் புகையும்; இந்தப் புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிற சாபங்களெல்லாம் அவன்மேல் தங்கும்; கர்த்தர் அவன் பேரை வானத்தின்கீழ் இராதபடிக்குக் குலைத்துப்போடுவார்.

சிலநாட்கள் சென்றபின்பு அன்னாள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி, ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்று, கர்த்தரிடத்தில் அவனைக் கேட்டேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்கு சாமுவேல் என்று பெயரிட்டாள்.

அதே காலம் அதற்கடுத்த ஆண்டில் அவள் கர்ப்பமுற்று ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்றெடுத்தாள். அவள் தன் மகனுக்கு சாமுவேல் என்று பெயரிட்டாள். அவள், “இவன் பெயர் சாமுவேல் ஏனென்றால் நான் கர்த்தரிடம் இவனைக் கேட்டேன்” என்றாள்.
