நீயோ, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்த் துரோகம்பண்ணி, பச்சையான சகல மரத்தின்கீழும் அந்நியரோடே சோரமார்க்கமாய் நடந்து, உன் அக்கிரமத்தையும், என் சத்தத்துக்குச் செவிகொடாமற்போனதையும் ஒத்துக்கொள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

நீயோ, உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்த் துரோகம்செய்து, பச்சையான எல்லா மரத்தின்கீழும் அந்நியருடன் சோரமார்க்கமாய் நடந்து, உன் அக்கிரமத்தையும், என் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்காமல்போனதையும் ஒத்துக்கொள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

ஆனால் நீ இதுவரை செய்த உன் பாவத்தை ஒப்புக்கொள்ளவேண்டும். நீ உனது தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு எதிராகத் திரும்பினாய், அதுவே உன் பாவம், மற்ற நாடுகளிலிருந்து வந்த ஜனங்களின் விக்கிரகங்களை நீ தொழுதுகொண்டாய். ஒவ்வொரு பச்சையான மரத்தின் அடியிலும் உள்ள விக்கிரகங்களைத் தொழுதுகொண்டாய். நீ எனக்கு அடிபணியவில்லை’” என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.
