தாவீதும் அவனோடிருந்த மனுஷரும் காணப்பட்ட செய்தியைச் சவுல் கேள்விப்பட்டான்; சவுல் கிபியாவைச் சேர்ந்த ராமாவில் ஒரு தோப்பிலே உட்கார்ந்து, தன்னுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரும் தன்னைச் சூழ்ந்துநிற்க, தன் ஈட்டியைத் தன் கையிலே பிடித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும் போது,

ஜனங்கள் தாவீது மற்றும் அவனது ஆட்கள் மூலம் சேர்ந்து வருவதை சவுல் கேள்விப்பட்டான். அவன் கிபியா மேட்டில் ஒரு மரத்தடியில் உட்கார்ந்துகொண்டிருந்தான். அவனது கையில் ஈட்டி இருந்தது. அதிகாரிகள் அவனைச் சுற்றிலும் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தனர்.

தாவீதும் அவருடன் இருந்த வீரர்களும் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டதைச் சவுல் கேள்விப்பட்டார். கிபயாவிலிருந்த மலைமீது தமாரிஸ்கு மரத்தின் கீழ் சவுல் கையில் தன் ஈட்டியை வைத்துக் கொண்டு அமர்ந்திருந்தார். அவருடைய எல்லா அலுவலர்களும் அவரைச் சூழ்ந்து நின்றனர்.
