எப்பிராயீம் மனுஷர் ஏகமாய்க் கூடி வடக்கே புறப்பட்டுப்போய், யெப்தாவை நோக்கி: நீ எங்களை உன்னோடேகூட வரும்படி அழைப்பியாமல் அம்மோன் புத்திரர்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணப்போனதென்ன? உன் வீட்டையும் உன்னையும்கூட அக்கினியால் சுட்டுப்போடுவோம் என்றார்கள்.

எப்பிராயீம் கோத்திரத்தின் மனிதர்கள் தம் வீரர்கள் எல்லோரையும் ஒருங்கே அழைத்து நதியைக் கடந்து சாபோன் நகரத்திற்குச் சென்றனர். அவர்கள் யெப்தாவிடம், “அம்மோனிய ஜனங்களை எதிர்த்து நீங்கள் போரிடும்போது ஏன் எங்களை அழைக்கவில்லை? உங்களையும் உங்கள் வீட்டையும் நாங்கள் எரித்துப்போடுவோம்” என்றனர்.

அப்பொழுது எப்பிராயீம் மனுஷர் அவனை நோக்கி: நீ மீதியானியர்மேல் யுத்தம் பண்ணப்போகிறபோது; எங்களை அழைப்பிக்கவில்லையே, இப்படி நீ எங்களுக்குச் செய்தது என்ன என்று; அவனோடே பலத்த வாக்குவாதம் பண்ணினார்கள்.
