நான் உன் அருகே கடந்துபோன போது, உன்னைப் பார்த்தேன்; இதோ, உன் காலம் பருவகாலமாயிருந்தது; அப்பொழுது என் வஸ்திரத்தை உன்மேல் விரித்து, உன் நிர்வாணத்தை மூடி, உனக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக்கொடுத்து, உன்னோடு உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணினேன் என்று கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறார்; இவ்விதமாய் நீ என்னுடையவளானாய்.

நான் உன் அருகே கடந்துபோனபோது, உன்னைப் பார்த்தேன்; இதோ, உன்னுடைய காலம் பருவகாலமாக இருந்தது; அப்பொழுது என்னுடைய ஆடையை உன்மேல் விரித்து, உன்னுடைய நிர்வாணத்தை மூடி, உனக்கு வாக்குக்கொடுத்து, உன்னுடன் உடன்படிக்கைசெய்தேன் என்று கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறார்; இந்த விதமாக நீ என்னுடையவளாக ஆனாய்.

நான் உன்னை முழுவதாய் பார்த்தேன். நீ மணம் செய்ய தயாராக இருப்பதைப் பார்த்தேன். எனவே நான் எனது ஆடைகளை உன்மேல் விரித்து உனது நிர்வாணத்தை மறைத்தேன். நான் உன்னை மணந்துகொள்வதாய் வாக்களித்தேன். நான் உன்னோடு ஒரு உடன்படிக்கையைச் செய்தேன். நீ என்னுடையவளானாய்.’” எனது கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் இவற்றைச் சொன்னார்:
