ஒருவரோடொருவர் ஏகசிந்தையுள்ளவர்களாயிருங்கள்; மேட்டிமையானவைகளைச் சிந்தியாமல், தாழ்மையானவர்களுக்கு இணங்குங்கள்; உங்களையே புத்திமான்களென்று எண்ணாதிருங்கள்.

பின்பு தாவீது படைகளில் மூன்றில் ஒரு பிரிவை யோவாபின் கையிலும், மூன்றில் ஒரு பிரிவைச் செருயாவின் மகனும் யோவாபின் சகோதரனுமான அபிசாயின் கையிலும், மூன்றில் ஒரு பிரிவைக் கித்தியனான ஈத்தாயின் கையிலுமாக அனுப்பி: நானும் உங்களோடு புறப்பட்டு வருவேன் என்று ராஜா இராணுவங்களுக்குச் சொன்னான்.

ஜனங்களை மூன்று பிரிவினராகப் பிரித்தான். பின்பு ஜனங்களை வெளியே அனுப்பினான். மூன்றில் ஒரு பகுதி ஜனங்களை யோவாப் வழி நடத்தினான். மற்றொரு மூன்றில் ஒரு பகுதியினரை செருயாவின் மகனும் யோவாபின் சகோதரனுமாகிய அபிசாய் வழி நடத்தினான். காத்திலிருந்து வந்த ஈத்தாயி மூன்றாவது பிரிவு ஜனங்களை வழி நடத்தினான். தாவீது அரசன் ஜனங்களிடம், “நானும் உங்களோடு வருவேன்” என்று கூறினான்.
