பின்பு தாவீது எழுந்து, சவுல் பாளயமிறங்கின இடத்திற்குப் போய், சவுலும் நேரின் குமாரனாகிய அப்னேர் என்னும் அவன் படைத்தலைவனும் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிற இடத்தைப் பார்த்தான்; சவுல் இரதங்களிருக்கிற இடத்திலே படுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தான்; ஜனங்கள் அவனைச் சுற்றிலும் பாளயமிறங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.

சவுலும் மக்களும் ஆகாகையும், ஆடுமாடுகளில் சிறந்தவைகளையும், ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகளையும், நலமான எல்லாவற்றையும், அழித்துப்போட மனமில்லாமல் தப்பவைத்து, அற்பமானவைகளும் உதவாதவைகளுமான அனைத்தையும் முற்றிலும் அழித்துப்போட்டார்கள்.

எல்லாவற்றையும் அழிக்க சவுலும் வீரர்களும் தயங்கினார்கள். ஆகாக் என்பவனை உயிருடன்விட்டனர். மேலும் கொழுத்த பசுக்களையும் நல்ல ஆடுகளையும் சிறந்த பொருட்களையும் கூட அழிக்காமல் விட்டுவிட்டனர். பயனுள்ள எல்லாவற்றையும் வைத்துக் கொண்டனர். அவற்றை அழிக்க அவர்கள் விரும்பவில்லை பயனற்றவற்றையே அவர்கள் அழித்தார்கள்.
