அதற்கு ஆசாரியன்: நீர் ஏலே பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே கொன்ற பெலிஸ்தனாகிய கோலியாத்தின் பட்டயம், இதோ, ஏபோத்துக்குப் பின்னாக ஒரு புடவையிலே சுருட்டி வைத்திருக்கிறது; அதை நீர் எடுக்க மனதானால் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோம், அதுவே அல்லாமல் வேறொன்றும் இல்லை என்றான்; அப்பொழுது தாவீது: அதற்கு நிகரில்லை; அதை எனக்கு தாரும் என்றான்.

அதற்கு ஆசாரியன், “இங்கே பெலிஸ்தனாகிய கோலியாத்தின் பட்டயம் மட்டுமே உள்ளது. அது உன்னால் அவனிடமிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்டது. துணியில் சுற்றி ஏபோத்தின் பின்னால் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. உனக்கு விருப்பமானால் எடுத்துக்கொள்ளலாம்” என்றான். தாவீதோ, “அதனை எனக்குக் கொடு. கோலியாத்தின் வாளைப்போன்று வேறு நல்ல வாள் இல்லை!” என்றான்.
