யாத்திராகமம் 16:31
இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தார் அதற்கு மன்னா என்று பேரிட்டார்கள்; அது கொத்துமல்லி அளவாயும் வெண்மைநிறமாயும் இருந்தது, அதின் ருசி தேனிட்ட பணிகாரத்திற்கு ஒப்பாயிருந்தது.

அந்த விசேஷ உணவை ஜனங்கள் “மன்னா” என்று அழைத்தார்கள். இந்த மன்னா தோற்றத்தில் சிறிய வெண்மையான கொத்து மல்லி விதைகளைப் போன்றிருந்தன. அவை ருசியில் தேனில் தோய்க்கப்பட்ட மெல்லிய வார்ப்புரொட்டி போன்று இருந்தன.
