ரோமர் 14:6
நாட்களை விசேஷித்துக்கொள்ளுகிறவன் கர்த்தருக்கென்று விசேஷித்துக்கொள்ளுகிறான்; நாட்களை விசேஷித்துக்கொள்ளாதவனும் கர்த்தருக்கென்று விசேஷித்துக்கொள்ளாதிருக்கிறான். புசிக்கிறவன் தேவனுக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரஞ்செலுத்துகிறபடியால், கர்த்தருக்கென்று புசிக்கிறான்; புசியாதிருக்கிறவனும் கர்த்தருக்கென்று புசியாதிருந்து, தேவனுக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரஞ் செலுத்துகிறான்.

நாட்களை சிறப்பாக்கிக்கொள்கிறவன் கர்த்தருக்கென்று சிறப்பாக்கிக் கொள்கிறான்; நாட்களை சிறப்பாக்கிக் கொள்ளாதவனும் கர்த்தருக்கென்று சிறப்பாக்கிக் கொள்ளாமல் இருக்கிறான். சாப்பிடுகிறவன் தேவனுக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம் செலுத்துகிறபடியால், கர்த்தருக்கென்று சாப்பிடுகிறான்; சாப்பிடாமல் இருக்கிறவனும் கர்த்தருக்கென்று சாப்பிடாமல், தேவனுக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம் செலுத்துகிறான்.

மற்ற நாட்களை விட ஒரு நாளைச் சிறப்பாகக் கருதுகிறவன் கர்த்தருக்காக அவ்வாறு கருதுகிறான். எல்லா வகை உணவுகளையும் உண்பவனும் கர்த்தருக்காகவே உண்ணுகிறான். அந்த உணவுக்காக அவன் தேவனுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்துகிறான். ஒருவன் சிலவகை உணவுகளை உண்ண மறுப்பதும் அதே கர்த்தருக்காகத்தான். அவனும் தேவனுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்துகிறான்.

மேற்சொன்னவாறு ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட நாளைச் சிறப்பாகக் கடைப்பிடிப்பவர் ஆண்டவருக்காகவே அப்படிச் செய்கிறார். எல்லா வகை உணவையும் உண்போர் கடவுளுக்கு நன்றிகூறி உண்பதால், ஆண்டவருக்காகவே உண்கின்றனர். அவ்வாறு உண்ணாதிருப்போரும் ஆண்டவருக்காகவே உண்ணாதிருக்கின்றனர்; ஏனெனில், அவர்களும் கடவுளுக்கு நன்றி கூறுகின்றார்கள்.⒫

மேலும் நான் அதை ஸ்தோத்திரிப்புடனே அநுபவித்தால், ஸ்தோத்திரித்து அநுபவிக்கிற பொருளைக்குறித்து நான் தூஷிக்கப்படுவானேன்?

மத்தேயு 14:19
அப்பொழுது, அவர் ஜனங்களைப் புல்லின்மேல் பந்தியிருக்கக் கட்டளையிட்டு, அந்த ஐந்து அப்பங்களையும், அந்த இரண்டு மீன்களையும் எடுத்து, வானத்தை அண்ணாந்து பார்த்து, ஆசீர்வதித்து, அப்பங்களைப் பிட்டுச் சீஷர்களிடத்தில் கொடுத்தார்; சீஷர்கள் ஜனங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.
