அவன் தந்தை மீது கோபங்கொண்டுப் பந்தியிலிருந்து விலகிக் கொண்டான். விருந்தின் இரண்டாம் நாளில் யோனத்தான் உணவுண்ண மறுத்தான். தனது தந்தை தன்னை அவமானப்படுத்தியதாலும் தாவீதை கொல்ல விரும்பியதாலும் யோனத்தான் கோபமடைந்தான்.

உடனே யோனத்தான் வெஞ்சினமுற்று பந்தியைவிட்டு எழுந்துவிட்டார். அமாவாசையின் மறுநாளாகிய அன்று அவர் உணவு அருந்தவில்லை. ஏனெனில், தாவீதைத் தம் தந்தை இழிவுப்படுத்தியது குறித்து அவர் மிகவும் மனம் வருந்தினார்.⒫
