தோலாவின் குமாரர், ஊசி, ரெப்பாயா, யெரியேல், யக்மாயி, இப்சாம், சாமுவேல் என்பவர்கள்; தோலாவுக்குப் பிறந்த இவர்கள் தங்கள் பிதாக்கள் வம்சத்தலைவரும் தங்கள் சந்ததிகளிலே பராக்கிரமசாலிகளுமாயிருந்தார்கள்; தாவீதின் நாட்களில் அவர்கள் தொகை இருபதினாயிரத்து அறுநூறுபேராயிருந்தது.

நீயோ இங்கே என்னிடத்தில் நில்; நான் அவர்களுக்குச் சொந்தமாகக் கொடுக்கும் தேசத்தில் அவர்கள் செய்யும்படி நீ அவர்களுக்குப் போதிக்கவேண்டிய சகல கற்பனைகளையும், கட்டளைகளையும், நியாயங்களையும் உனக்குச் சொல்லுவேன் என்றார்.

ஆனால் நீயோ இங்கே எனது அருகிலேயே நில். நான் உன்னிடம் எல்லா கட்டளைகளையும், சட்டங்களையும் நியாயங்களையும் சொல்லுகிறேன். அவற்றை நீ அவர்களுக்குப் போதிக்க வேண்டும். நான் அவர்கள் வாழும்படி கொடுத்த நிலத்தில் உன் போதனைப்படியே அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொன்றையும் செய்ய வேண்டும்.’”
