அதின்பின் அவன் வேறோருவனைக் கண்டு: என்னை அடி என்றான்; அந்த மனுஷன், அவனைக் காயமுண்டாக அடித்தான்.

அப்பொழுது பெனாதாத் அவனிடம் ஆள் அனுப்பி: எனக்குப் பின்னே செல்லுகிற மக்கள் எல்லோரும் கைக்கு ஒரு பிடியாவது வாரிக்கொள்ள சமாரியாவின் தூள் போதுமானதாக இருந்தால், தெய்வங்கள் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யக்கடவர்கள் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

அவனது ஒரு தூதுவனை அனுப்பி, “நான் சமாரியா முழுவதையும் அழிக்கப்போகிறேன். நகரத்தில் எதுவும் மீதியாகாது. எனது ஆட்கள் எடுத்துக்கொள்ள எதுவும் இருக்காது! இவ்வாறு நான் செய்யாவிட்டால் தேவன் என்னைத் தண்டிக்கட்டும்!” என்றான்.
