ஆசா தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின், தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் நகரத்திலே தன் பிதாக்களண்டையில் அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய யோசபாத் அவன் ஸ்தானத்திலே ராஜாவானான்.

சீரியருக்கும் இஸ்ரவேலருக்கும் மூன்று வருஷம் யுத்தமில்லாமலிருந்தது.

ஆசாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபின் நாலாம் வருஷத்தில் யூதாவின்மேல் ராஜாவானான்.

யோசபாத் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவோடே சமாதானமாயிருந்தான்.

அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் வழியிலே நடந்து, ஆகாபின் வீட்டார் செய்ததுபோலச் செய்தான்; ஆகாபின் குமாரத்தி அவனுக்கு மனைவியாயிருந்தாள்; அவன் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்.

யோசபாத்துக்கு மிகுந்த ஐசுவரியமும் கனமும் உண்டாயிருந்தது; அவன் ஆகாபோடே சம்பந்தங்கலந்து,

யோனா இரவும் பகலும் மூன்றுநாள் ஒரு பெரிய மீனின் வயிற்றில் இருந்தது போல, மனுஷகுமாரனும் இரவும் பகலும் மூன்றுநாள் பூமியின் இருதயத்தில் இருப்பார்.

அதுமுதல் இயேசு, தாம் எருசலேமுக்குப்போய், மூப்பராலும் பிரதான ஆசாரியராலும் பல பாடுகள் பட்டு, கொலையுண்டு, மூன்றாம் நாளில் எழுந்திருக்கவேண்டும் என்பதைத் தம்முடைய சீஷர்களுக்குச் சொல்லத்தொடங்கினார்.
