அப்பொழுது பாலாக் பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: நீர் எனக்கு என்னசெய்தீர்; என் சத்துருக்களைச் சபிக்கும்படி உம்மை அழைப்பித்தேன்; நீர் அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கவே ஆசீர்வதித்தீர் என்றான்.

அப்னேர் இஸ்போசேத்தின் வார்த்தைகளுக்காக மிகவும் கோபங் கொண்டு: உம்மைத் தாவீதின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடாமல் இந்நாள்மட்டும் உம்முடைய தகப்பனாகிய சவுலின் குடும்பத்துக்கும், அவருடைய சகோதரருக்கும் சிநேகிதருக்கும் தயவுசெய்கிறவனாகிய என்னை நீர் இன்று ஒரு ஸ்திரீயினிமித்தம் குற்றம்பிடிக்கிறதற்கு, நான் யூதாவுக்கு உட்கையான ஒரு நாய்த்தலையா?

நான் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணப்பட்டவனாயிருந்தபோதிலும் நான் இன்னும் பலவீனன்; செருயாவின் குமாரராகிய இந்த மனுஷர் என் பலத்துக்கு மிஞ்சினவர்களாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; அந்தப் பொல்லாப்பைச் செய்தவனுக்கு கர்த்தர் அவன் பொல்லாப்புக்குத்தக்கதாய்ச் சரிக்கட்டுவாராக என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது யோவாப் வீட்டிற்குள்ளே ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய்: இன்று உம்முடைய ஜீவனையும், உம்முடைய குமாரர் குமாரத்திகளின் ஜீவனையும், உம்முடைய மனைவிகளின் ஜீவனையும், உம்முடைய மறுமனையாட்டிகளின் ஜீவனையும் தப்புவித்த உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரர் எல்லாரின் முகத்தையும் வெட்கப்படுதினீர்; இன்று நீர் உம்மைப் பகைக்கிறவர்களைச் சிநேகித்து, உம்மைச் சிநேகிக்கிறவர்களைப் பகைக்கிறீர் என்று விளங்குகிறது.

பிலாத்து பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் யூதனா? உன் ஜனங்களும் பிரதான ஆசாரியரும் உன்னை என்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்கள், நீ என்ன செய்தாய் என்றான்.
