அப்படியே அவன் ஜனங்களைத் தண்ணீரண்டைக்கு இறங்கிப்போகப் பண்ணினான்; அப்போழுது கர்த்தர் கிதியோனை நோக்கி: தண்ணீரை ஒரு நாய் நக்கும் பிரகாரமாக அதைத் தன் நாவினாலே நக்குகிறவன் எவனோ, அவனைத் தனியேயும், குடிக்கிறதற்கு முழங்கால் ஊன்றிக் குனிகிறவன் எவனோ, அவனைத் தனியேயும் நிறுத்து என்றார்.

அப்படியே அவன் மக்களைத் தண்ணீரின் அருகே இறங்கிப்போகச்செய்தான்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் கிதியோனை நோக்கி: தண்ணீரை ஒரு நாய் நக்குவதுபோல அதைத் தன்னுடைய நாவினாலே நக்குகிறவன் எவனோ அவனைத் தனியாகவும், குடிக்கிறதற்கு முழங்கால் ஊன்றிக் குனிகிறவன் எவனோ, அவனைத் தனியாகவும் நிறுத்து என்றார்.

எனவே கிதியோன் அவர்களை தண்ணீரருகே அழைத்துச் சென்றான். அங்கு கர்த்தர் கிதியோனை நோக்கி, “உனது ஆட்களில் நாயைப்போல் தண்ணீரை நக்கிக் குடிப்போரை ஒரு குழுவாகவும், மண்டியிட்டு தண்ணீரை குடிப்போரை மற்றொரு குழுவாகவும் பிரித்து விடு” என்றார்.
