அவைகளுக்குப் பேச்சுமில்லை, வார்த்தையுமில்லை, அவைகளின் சத்தம் கேட்கப்படுவதுமில்லை.

அவர் ஒரு வாரம்வரைக்கும் அநேகருக்கு உடன்படிக்கையை உறுதிப்படுத்தி, அந்த வாரம் பாதி சென்றபோது பலியையும் காணிக்கையையும் ஒழியச்செய்வார்; அருவருப்பான இறக்கைகளோடே பாழாக்குகிறவன் வந்து இறங்குவான், நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிற அழிவு பாழாக்குகிறவன்மேல் தீரும்வரை ஊற்றும் என்றான்.

“பிறகு, வருங்கால அரசன் பல ஜனங்களோடு ஒரு ஒப்பந்தம் செய்துகொள்வான். அந்த ஒப்பந்தம் ஒரு வாரத்திற்கு நீடிக்கும். அரை வாரத்திற்குப் பலிகளும் காணிக்கைகளும் நிறுத்தப்படும். பாழாக்குகிறவன் வருவான். அவன் பயங்கரங்களையும், அழிவுக்குரியக் காரியங்களையும் செய்வான். ஆனால் தேவன், அந்த பாழாக்குகிறவன் முழுமையாக அழிக்கப்படவேண்டும் என்று கட்டளையிட்டிருக்கிறார்” என்றான்.

ஒருவாரம் அவன் பலரோடு உடன்படிக்கை செய்து கொண்டு அரசாள்வான். அந்த வாரத்தின் பாதி கழிந்தபின், பலியையும் காணிக்கையையும் நிறுத்திவிடுவான். திருக்கோவிலின் முனையில் பாழாக்கும் அருவருப்பு வைக்கப்படும். அதை அங்கு வைத்துப் பாழ்படுத்தியவன் கடவுளின் ஆணைப்படி இறுதியில் அழிவுறுவான்.”

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations `shall come’ one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall `wrath’ be poured out upon the desolate.
