அப்பொழுது அவள் சகோதரனாகிய அப்சலோம் அவளைப் பார்த்து: உன் சகோதரனாகிய அம்னோன் உன்னோடிருந்தானோ? இப்போதும் என் சகோதரியே, நீ மவுனமாயிரு; அவன் உன்னுடைய சகோதரன்; இந்தக் காரியத்தை உன்மனதிலே வைக்காதே என்றான்; அப்படியே தாமார் தன் சகோதரனாகிய அப்சலோமின் வீட்டில் தனித்துக் கிலேசப்பட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தாள்.

அப்போது தாமாரின் சகோதரன் அப்சலோம் அவளை நோக்கி, “நீ உனது சகோதரன் அம்னோனிடம் சென்றாயா? அவன் உன்னைத் துன்புறுத்தினானா? அமைதியாக இரு, அம்னோன் உனது சகோதரன். நாங்கள் இது குறித்து கவனித்துக்கொள்வோம். அதிகமாக உன் மனதை வருத்தாதே” என்றான். தாமார் எதுவும் சொல்லவில்லை. அவள் அமைதியாக அப்சலோமின் வீட்டில் தங்கும்படி சென்றாள்.
