பணிவிடைக்காரிகளையும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளையும் முதலிலும், லேயாளையும் அவள் பிள்ளைகளையும் இடையிலும், ராகேலையும் யோசேப்பையும் கடையிலும் நிறுத்தி:

யாக்கோபு ராகேலையும் சேர்ந்தான்; லேயாளைப்பார்க்கிலும் ராகேலை அவன் அதிகமாய் நேசித்து, பின்னும் ஏழு வருஷம் அவனிடத்தில் சேவித்தான்.

தேவன் ராகேலை நினைத்தருளினார்; அவளுக்குத் தேவன் செவிகொடுத்து, அவள் கர்ப்பந்தரிக்கும்படி செய்தார்.
Genesis 37:3
இஸ்ரவேலின் முதிர்வயதிலே யோசேப்புத் தனக்குப் பிறந்ததினால், இஸ்ரவேல் தன் குமாரர் எல்லாரிலும் அவனை அதிகமாய் நேசித்து, அவனுக்குப் பலவருணமான அங்கியைச் செய்வித்தான்.
