கர்த்தர் கூறுகிறார், “ஒரு சிங்கம் ஒரு ஆட்டுக் குட்டியை தாக்கலாம். மேய்ப்பன் அந்த ஆட்டைக் காப்பாற்ற முயற்சி செய்யலாம். ஆனால் மேய்ப்பன் ஆட்டுக்குட்டியின் ஒரு பகுதியைத்தான் காப்பாற்றுவான். அவன் சிங்கத்தின் வாயிலிருந்து இரண்டு கால்கள் அல்லது காதின் ஒரு பகுதியை மட்டும் பிடுங்க முடியும். அவ்வாறே இஸ்ரவேலின் பெரும் பாலான ஜனங்கள் காப்பாற்றப்படமாட்டார்கள். சமாரியாவில் வாழ்கிற ஜனங்கள் படுக்கையின் ஒரு மூலையையோ அல்லது ஒரு மஞ்சத்தின் மேலிருக்கும் துணியின் ஒரு துண்டையோ காப்பாற்றிக்கொள்வார்கள்.”
