ஆபிராம் தன் மனைவியாகிய சாராயையும், தன் சகோதரனுடைய குமாரனாகிய லோத்தையும், தாங்கள் சம்பாதித்திருந்த தங்கள் சம்பத்தெல்லாவற்றையும், ஆரானிலே சவதரித்த ஜனங்களையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, அவர்கள் கானான் தேசத்துக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், கானான் தேசத்திலே சேர்ந்தார்கள்.

ஆபிராம் ஆரானை விட்டு போகும்போது தன் மனைவி சாராயையும், தன் சகோதரனுடைய மகனான லோத்தையும், எல்லா அடிமைகளையும், ஆரானில் அவனுக்குச் சொந்தமான அனைத்தையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போனான். அவர்கள் ஆரானை விட்டுக் கானானை நோக்கிப் பயணம் செய்தனர்.

ஆபிராம் தம் மனைவி சாராயையும் தம் சகோதரனின் மகன் லோத்தையும் உடனழைத்துச் சென்றார். அவர்கள் ஆரானில் சேர்த்திருந்த செல்வத்துடனும், வைத்திருந்த ஆள்களுடனும் கானான் நாட்டிற்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்று அந்நாட்டைச் சென்றடைந்தனர்.
