அதற்கு அன்னாள் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: அப்படியல்ல, என் ஆண்டவனே, நான் மனக்கிலேசமுள்ள ஸ்திரீ; நான் திராட்சரசமாகிலும் மதுவாகிலும் குடிக்கவில்லை; நான் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் என் இருதயத்தை ஊற்றிவிட்டேன்.

யோசேப்பு சொல்லியிருந்தபடி ஏழுவருட பஞ்சம் தொடங்கினது; அனைத்துதேசங்களிலும் பஞ்சம் உண்டானது; ஆனாலும் எகிப்துதேசமெங்கும் ஆகாரம் இருந்தது.

அதன் பிறகு யோசேப்பு சொன்னதைப்போலவே பஞ்ச காலம் துவங்கியது. எந்த நாடுகளிலும் உணவுப் பொருட்கள் விளையவில்லை. ஆனால் எகிப்தில் உணவுப் பொருட்கள் ஏராளமாக சேமிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தன. இதற்குக் காரணம் யோசேப்பின் திட்டம்.
