யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களிலும் எருசலேமைச் சுற்றிலும் மேடைகளின்மேல் தூபங்காட்ட, யூதாவின் ராஜாக்கள் வைத்த பூஜாசாரிகளையும், பாகாலுக்கும் சூரியனுக்கும் சந்திரனுக்கும் கிரகங்களுக்கும் வானத்தின் சகல சேனைகளுக்கும் தூபங்காட்டினவர்களையும் அகற்றிவிட்டான்.

யூத அரசன் ஆசாரியர்களாகப் பணி செய்ய மிகச் சாதாரண ஆட்களைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்திருந்தான். இவர்கள் ஆரோன் வம்சத்தில் உள்ளவர்கள் அல்ல. அப்பொய் ஆசாரியர்கள் மேடையில் எருசலேமிலும் அதைச் சுற்றியுள்ள யூத நகரங்களிலும் நறுமணப் பொருட்களை எரித்து வந்தனர். அவர்கள் பாகால், சூரியன், சந்திரன், கிரகங்கள், வானுலக நட்சத்திரங்கள் போன்றவற்றுக்கு நறுமணப் பொருட்களை எரித்தனர். ஆனால் இல்க்கியா அப்போலி ஆசாரியர்களைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்திவிட்டார்.
