இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்ட செய்தியை தேவனுடைய மனுஷனாகிய எலிசா கேட்டபோது, அவன்: நீர் உம்முடைய வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொள்வானேன்? அவன் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து, இஸ்ரவேலிலே தீர்க்கதரிசி உண்டென்பதை அறிந்துகொள்ளட்டும் என்று ராஜாவுக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினான்.

அரசன் வருத்தப்பட்டுத் தன் ஆடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டதைப்பற்றி தேவமனிதனான எலிசா அறிந்தான். உடனே தன் தூதுவனை அனுப்பி, “ஏன் உங்கள் ஆடைகளைக் கிழித்துகொண்டீர்கள், நாகமானை என்னிடம் அனுப்புங்கள். அப்போதுதான் அவர்கள் இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசி இருக்கிறார் என்பதைத் தெரிந்துக்கொள்வார்கள்!” என்று தெரிவித்தான்.

அப்பொழுது உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரராகிய இவர்கள் எல்லாரும் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து, பணிந்து, நீயும் உன்னைப் பின்பற்றுகிறவர்கள் யாவரும் புறப்பட்டுப்போங்கள் என்று சொல்லுவார்கள்; அதின் பின் புறப்படுவேன் என்று சொல்லி, உக்கிரமான கோபத்தோடே பார்வோனைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டான்.

தாவீது யோவாபையும் அவனோடிருந்த சகல ஜனங்களையும் பார்த்து: நீங்கள் உங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, இரட்டுடுத்தி, அப்னேருக்கு முன்னாக நடந்து துக்கங்கொண்டாடுங்கள் என்று சொல்லி, தாவீதுராஜா தானும் பாடைக்குப் பின்சென்றான்.

அப்பொழுது அந்த ஸ்திரீ எலியாவை நோக்கி: நீர் தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் என்றும், உம்முடைய வாயிலிருந்து பிறக்கும் கர்த்தரின் வார்த்தை உண்மை என்றும், இதினால் இப்போது அறிந்திருக்கிறேன் என்றாள்.

அந்திப்பலி செலுத்தும் நேரத்திலே, தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய எலியா வந்து: ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் ஈசாக்குக்கும் யாக்கோபுக்கும் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, இஸ்ரவேலிலே நீர் தேவன் என்றும், நான் உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரன் என்றும், நான் இந்தக் காரியங்களையெல்லாம் உம்முடைய வார்த்தையின்படி செய்தேன் என்றும் இன்றைக்கு விளங்கப்பண்ணும்.

அவள் தன் நாச்சியாரைப் பார்த்து: என் ஆண்டவன் சமாரியாவிலிருக்கிற தீர்க்கதரிசியினிடத்தில் போவாரானால் நலமாயிருக்கும்; அவர் இவருடைய குஷ்டரோகத்தை நீக்கிவிடுவார் என்றாள்.

இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அந்த நிருபத்தை வாசித்தபோது, அவன் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு: ஒரு மனுஷனை அவன் குஷ்டரோகத்தினின்று நீக்கி விடவேண்டும் என்று, அவன் என்னிடத்தில் நிருபம் அனுப்புகிறதற்கு, கொல்லவும் உயிர்ப்பிக்கவும் நான் தேவனா? இவன் என்னை விரோதிக்க சமயம் தேடுகிறான் என்பதைச் சிந்தித்துப்பாருங்கள் என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் கூட்டத்தோடெல்லாம் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனிடத்துக்குத் திரும்பிவந்து, அவனுக்கு முன்பாக நின்று: இதோ, இஸ்ரவேலிலிருக்கிற தேவனைத்தவிர பூமியெங்கும் வேறே தேவன் இல்லை என்பதை அறிந்தேன்; இப்போதும் உமது அடியேன் கையில் ஒரு காணிக்கை வாங்கிக்கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்றான்.

கலகவீட்டாரகிய அவர்கள் கேட்டாலும் சரி, கேளாவிட்டாலும் சரி, தங்களுக்குள்ளே ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசி உண்டென்கிறதை அவர்கள் அறியவேண்டும்.

கர்த்தர் ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசியைக் கண்டு இஸ்ரவேலை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்; தீர்க்கதரிசியினால் காக்கப்பட்டான்.
