ஆளுகைசெய்கிறவனுடைய முகதரிசனத்தைத் தேடுகிறவர்கள் அநேகர்; ஆனாலும் அவனவனுடைய நியாயம் கர்த்தராலே தீரும்.

“ஆசாரியரும் லேவியர்களும் ஜனங்களுமாகிய நாங்கள் சீட்டுப்போட்டோம். ஏனென்றால், ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் குறிப்பிட்ட காலங்களில் நமது தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்திற்கு எந்தக் குடும்பத்தார் விறகை அன்பளிப்பாக கொண்டுவரவேண்டும் என்று தீர்மானிப்பதற்கு விரும்பினர். நமது தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் விறகானது பலிபீடத்தில் எரிக்கப்பட்டது. சட்டத்தில் எழுதப்பட்டபடி நாம் செய்ய வேண்டும்.

பிரபுவின் தயையை அநேகர் வருந்திக் கேட்பார்கள்; கொடை கொடுக்கிறவனுக்கு எவனும் சிநேகிதன்.

கர்த்தாவே, இரட்சியும்; நாங்கள் கூப்பிடுகிற நாளிலே ராஜா எங்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பாராக.

அந்த மனிதன் அங்கிருக்கிற உங்கள் மற்றச் சகோதரனையும் பென்யமீனையும் உங்களுடனே அனுப்பிவிடும்படிக்கு, சர்வ வல்லமையுள்ள தேவன் அவன் சமுகத்தில் உங்களுக்கு இரக்கங்கிடைக்கப்பண்ணுவாராக; நானோ பிள்ளையற்றுப் போனவனைப்போல் இருப்பேன் என்றான்.

நீர் போய், சூசானில் இருக்கிற யூதரையெல்லாம் கூடிவரச்செய்து, மூன்றுநாள் அல்லும் பகலும் புசியாமலும் குடியாமலுமிருந்து, எனக்காக உபவாசம்பண்ணுங்கள்; நானும் என் தாதிமாரும் உபவாசம்பண்ணுவோம்; இவ்விதமாக சட்டத்தை மீறி, ராஜாவினிடத்தில் பிரவேசிப்பேன்; நான் செத்தாலும் சாகிறேன் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னாள்.

கிருபையும் உம்முடையது, ஆண்டவரே! தேவரீர் அவனவன் செய்கைக்குத் தக்கதாகப் பலனளிக்கிறீர்.

ஒருவனுடைய வழிகள் கர்த்தருக்குப் பிரியமாயிருந்தால், அவனுடைய சத்துருக்களும் அவனோடே சமாதானமாகும்படி செய்வார்.

மனுஷனுடைய இருதயத்தின் எண்ணங்கள் அநேகம்; ஆனாலும் கர்த்தருடைய யோசனையே நிலைநிற்கும்.

ராஜாவின் இருதயம் கர்த்தரின் கையில் நீர்க்கால்களைப்போலிருக்கிறது; அதைத் தமது சித்தத்தின்படி அவர் திருப்புகிறார்.

முந்திப் பூர்வகாலத்தில் நடந்தவைகளை நினையுங்கள்; நானே தேவன், வேறொருவரும் இல்லை; நானே தேவன் எனக்குச் சமானமில்லை.

அதற்கு நான்: விருதாவாய் உழைக்கிறேன், வீணும் வியர்த்தமுமாய் என் பெலனைச் செலவழிக்கிறேன்; ஆகிலும் என் நியாயம் கர்த்தரிடத்திலும், என் பெலன் என் தேவனிடத்திலும் இருக்கிறது என்று சொன்னேன்.

பூமியின் குடிகள் எல்லாம் ஒன்றுமில்லையென்று எண்ணப்படுகிறார்கள்; அவர் தமது சித்தத்தின்படியே வானத்தின் சேனையையும் பூமியின் குடிகளையும் நடத்துகிறார், அவருடைய கையைத் தடுத்து அவரை நோக்கி: என்ன செய்கிறீரென்று சொல்லத்தக்கவன் ஒருவனும் இல்லை என்றேன்.
